No, I am the sole executor as well as one of the beneficiaries. There are 3 of us: 3 beneficiaries of whom 1 is the executor (me). Sorry for creating the confusion.
Oh that's good news then: you're in charge, you make the decisions. If they don't like it, offer to put the whole thing into the hands of solicitors who will take MUCH longer than you and charge the proverbial limbs.

You can still get advice on specific aspects - as you have done - while retaining control overall.

That's a good idea, threaten to put all in the hands of the solicitors. That should keep them quiet
(the solicitors are now aware that the beneficiaries might try to call/email them to put some pressure).
Good idea to make them aware, but the only response the solicitors should be giving is "we are unable to update anyone but our client, you are not our client." And what you do NOT want is the solicitors spending any time (and therefore money) on such enquiries.

    Thanks for that!
Solicitors pointed out exactly that: "they're not our client".

I don’t want to scare you but if IHT is payable then push to get COOP legal services to pay this now, it does not take HMRC 4 months to process the request there are so many bad online reviews for COOP legal services I would be very vary about anything they are stating with timescales. There are warnings about them why are you still trusting them when all your comments suggests they are providing incorrect information and delays at every turn when they are not even legally qualified but charging you as though they are. Your comment does it take hmrc 4 months to calculate bill and send it back rings alarm bells your solicitor is supposed to calculate the IHT liability I suggest you seek better legal advice from actual qualified people.

    Thank you for your reply.
I'll have to find another probate solicitor who can take over from the Co-Op. I fear that that it will cause further delay, though.
I had hired the Co-Op Legal Services to assist me primarily for calculating the bill owing to HMRC (I wouldn't want to make mistakes) and to assist in case the beneficiaries would cause some problem, to ease the pressure on me. And now I'm under pressure anyhow!
