Advance Service Payment

Looking for some help here. In December of '23, I bought a brand new motorcycle from my local dealer Thunderoad Motorcycles, Bridgend. When it came to its first 500 mile service in March '24, I was given the opportunity by the dealer to purchase its own advance service plan where I saved around £150 compared to paying for the next 2 services separately. Of course I paid the initial first service as normal then took out the service plan for the following 2 services at a cost of £479. I obviously have all the paperwork and all I needed to do was to present the vouchers at the time of the next and subsequent service. This dealer had been in existence for over 50 yrs so very well respected locally, I have bought many motorcycles from them over the years and had no reason to doubt it in any way. A couple of months ago, I was informed that the dealer had entered into administration. I contacted the administrators who took quite some time in replying to my request of a refund of the payment that I had made or to transfer to whoever it might be that may take over the business. I have been rebuffed and told that I am not entitled to any recompense as the old business is being dissolved and if there is any monies left to creditors, then seeing as its a relatively small amount of money I may only receive a small fraction of that payment. I wish I had now paid by credit card as I believe I may have some had some redress from that payment method but I didn't. I paid by regular debit card through Barclays Bank. So my question is, do I have form of recompense through the debit card payment scheme? Many thanks in advance.

With a debit card the only option is a chargeback, but if the company is in administration that is unlikely to succeed.0

You have a chargeback right for non receipt of services, as your payment was less than 540 days. So call bank & explain the situation.
If they say it is over 120 days. Just mention that this is a ongoing service & the payment was less than 540 days. If they still say no raise a complaint. 👍Life in the slow lane2
