Email from Revolut

Hi

has anyone else received an email from Revolut that they hadnt requested, containing their account number and sort code, with the banks address “to enable me to share with people who I want to access my bank info”?

It seems strange as mostUK banks wouldn’t share this amount of info in an unsecured email.

Yes, me too yesterday. 

I thought it was unusual but it did look legit.

I have no problem if my sort code and account number is used in an email, as nothing bad can happen with it (yes I know about Jeremy Clarkson’s unauthorised DD, and no, I am still not concerned).

I am of the generation who used to write dozens of cheques each year, and hand these to complete strangers. Together with our sort code, account number, our name and our signature. 

It’s a bit of an odd email from Revolut, however. It adds zero value to me as a Revolut account holder, and I deleted the email immediately. Revolut are known for doing odd things…..

Sounds  like open banking, which some companies are starting to ask for when looking at credit facilities, such as PCP.

I have no need of PCP, or any other credit. But, if I did, they'd maybe get a bank statement, but nothing more. World's gone mad.
