Morning All
Thanks for the start Gers, hope the weather doesn't get too bad there, it's pretty awful here - very high winds and driving rain.
After buying the necessities yesterday I spent the day loafing about doing not much and I feel better for it. This morning I've cleaned the downstairs bathroom and sorted the drawer of doom in my bedroom. Also sorted a basket with nail files, etc in and found 2 bookmarks I thought I'd lost and quite a few new day and night creams, ok, a lot! I buy them when they are on offer at boots but must stop for a while.
Ruby, I hope your DD is ok after that nasty incident. How awful for her especially when she was out on her own. Does she have a Dashcam?
Glad the poodles are beginning to feel better.
Well done Mehefin, sometimes we just have to point things out to our children. My DS1 asked me over Christmas if I could hold off putting the food processor on as his Partner, the baby and children were still asleep. As it was 9am and I was making breakfast I told him it was my house and I could put it on if I wanted to - didn't go down very well but I felt quite brave and it needed saying!
Hope those of you celebrating tonight have a good time, I will be tucked up in bed!
Take care. XX13 -
Morning all, thanks Gers & Happy Hogmanay even if you are in bed, I think we probably will be too.Redruby, what a horrible thing to happen to DD, must have been very scary when she was on her own.I did nip to town to the library yesterday, and also bought a new scarf from the new pri marni which relocated, it's much more modern than the old one. I bought 1 scarf from there before Cmas and it was so warm and snuggly I decided to get another colour!DS2 has gone away with friends for NY but asked me to stay with DGD until she went to her friends for the night. I spent the time sorting his freezer, he's not very organised and some of the stuff was way beyond its best with freezer burn, dried out etc. I undid the bags and put it in the compost bags and brought it home to put in our green bin, which is hopefully being emptied sooner than his. Having said that, we haven't seen a bin wagon here for at least a couple of weeks. The council sent everyone a complicated notice with revised holiday timings, people put them out and nothing happened. The paper bin should be today but who knows- they've reduced that collection to once a month now.DH bought some nice steak for tonight as a treat, and tomorrow we'll have a roast.Wishing everyone a Happy 2025, I know this year has been very hard for some so onwards & upwards eh x:heartsmil 'A woman is like a teabag: You never know her strength until you drop her in hot water'. Thank you for all the support, you don't know how much meant.
Wishing you all a happy, healthy and peaceful New Year 🍾🎆If you walk at night no-one will see you cry.13 -
Morning all, it's wet and windy here already. Most things were put away yesterday, just the meat plates and xmas bags/wrapping paper need to get themselves home now till next year.
Today I have to dig in the freezer for a joint of beef ready for tomorrow and then do some ironing, at least 2 pairs of jeans need doing. The hoover will be going over the downstairs too. I shall probably see in the new year but Mr Fix It can't keep his eyes open past 8.30-9pm these days, but then he's an early bird and I've always been a night owl.
Thank you all for your company this last year and personally I can't wait to see the back of it as it's been a tough time for me with my C diagnosis and subsequent op, my ongoing health problems, my Dad's stroke, Mr Fix It's ongoing health issues and lately losing my DF too. Having you all to just " listen" helped me get through it all. Whether you are a poster or just a reader a sincere thank you is in order once again.
Take care all, stay safe, warm and well. Hugs to the poorly ones, the sad/ lonely ones, I hope next year is better for you all.
Wishing everyone has a Happy and Healthy New Year 2025.

Good morning everyone
Wind starting to get up here but it's the heavy rain that is forecast overnight that worries me. I think my New Year may be spent bailing out my greenhouse.
What an awful experience for your DD Red Ruby, so frightening when you're on your own.
Although I don't post everyday, I do read along and find the support everyone gives to each other on this thread is uplifting. This year has been the first full year since losing my DH and advice that has been given to people in a similar situation on here has helped me.
So I wish you all a happy and peaceful New Year, especially the sad, lonely and poorlies and hopefully 'see' you in 2025
Take care x12 -
Good morning from Mehefinland
I would just like to echo what silver-oldie said about the phenomenal support which you , my virtual friends, give to anyone in need, and not just me. I know sometimes it is hard to let the emotions surface, or to vent when upset; but I have never felt anything but support and empathy from you beautiful people. My heart felt thanks.
Just been to the local agricultural depot for horse feed, so popped into Waitr0se thinking I would get some picky bits on the off chance I got any visitors lol. Well it was yellow stickered within an inch of its life, but nothing which took my fancy. It did look as if a horde of locusts had landed in the party food aisle - I think all that was left were some mini yorkshire puds, and some prawn toast things. Not exactly inspiring! I did get some reduced apple turnovers which are a particular favourite of my friends up the road.
I wish you all a peaceful evening, wellness to the poodles, and hugs and spoons as always to those in need.
There is an old Carmarthenshire toast which is apposite in many ways which goes " To each of us a pig". I'll let you work it out yourselves but the clue is in the time.
Happier new Year

Should auld acquaintance be forgot,
and never brought to mind?
Should auld acquaintance be forgot,
and auld lang syne?
For auld lang syne, my jo,
for auld lang syne,
we’ll tak’ a cup o’ kindness yet,
for auld lang syne.
And surely ye’ll be your pint-stoup!

And the final song of the year...couldn't be any other....Hope you've enjoyed them [ and if tru is reading, you're welcome to take the baton back
]
So good morning all, I am hangover free which is nice considering how much I did drink but looking forward to not going out tonight
Nothing much here, we're out for lunch for a friends birthday then a roll around on the sofa for the rest of the afternoon I think, along with one load of washing and drying, some hoovering and general tidying because I know how to party
Ruby, hope she's feeling better now, that's just ridiculous and scary and awful. I have to say, a dash cam has been really useful for me [front and back] and worth the money to pay someone to install it too. They're not cheap cheap but when things like that happen, totally worth it.
Hope everyone is having an uneventful day, and all the best for the final day of the year. Hoping next year is better for lots of you, this year has been challenging and sad - but also happy in bits - so here's hoping for a better and healthier one for you all...

Morning all. The beautiful pink and red clouds we had last night as the sun was setting have been replaced by grey skies and we're told gusty winds and heavy rain will arrive by lunchtime.
Time to hunker down.
I've not got much planned for today which is a good job as the lurgy is well and truly taking over. The sofa, paracetamol and copious amounts of fluids will be my friends and it remains to be seen if I will still be awake to welcome in the New Year.
I wish everyone health and happiness for 2025, see you all tomorrow. XBe kind to others and to yourself too.11 -
Morning all
Wet and windy here too (the weather not me ) but it may stop some of the fireworks later tonight.
I did some shopping yesterday and popped into sainsbugs for some GF pasta as we think OH might be gluten intolerant, and I bought a reduced turkey crown for £8 it’s quite a big one so I will cook that today and slice and freeze it ready for sandwiches, will also make a curry with some of it, a turkey sandwich with real butter and salt is one of my favourites - I am easily pleased 😬
Also we booked our flights yesterday for our summer holiday so that’s something to look forward to not till end of August but I do like to have a holiday in the bag at all times 😂
Thank you for all the good wishes re dd she has dropped her car off this morning to get the mirror fixed, Camelot her dash cam stopped working a while ago it’s on the list to be fixed, she is a lot less shaken now, she is on a late tonight so hopefully she will be ok coming home, she is taking my car.
We will try and stay up for the bells but can’t guarantee it, dd will be in at about 10.30 so will wait for her to get in at least.
Thank you all for being such good friends it’s such a good support system we have on here, love to all ❤️10 -
