Hi there - first off thanks so much for the support that's provided here. it's super comprehensive - and I'm very grateful. @Coupon-mad or @KeithP - could either of you confirm. The defence that was provided you've mentioned that the defence works for DCB Legal but not for euro car parks limited? Do you have any threads available with a defence that specifically works for them? I've followed all the steps for acknowledgment of service. But a bit stuck on next steps around the defence aspect. Thanks so much in advance for your help with this.0

ANOTHER ONE BITES THE DUST
Update or the original post on this thread. After submitting the defense, filling in and submitting the Directions Questionnaire and going through mediation in March 2025, nothing happened with this case for an entire year until now. In February 2026 I received a 'Notice of Allocation to Small Claims Track' letter at Cardiff Civil and Family Justice Centre for today 27/03/2026. I prepared my witness statement and submitted to Moorside Legal and the court 14 days in advance as it says in the letter and using the examples of witness statements on this forum. I phoned the court this morning because I hadn't received the Trial Bundle from the Claimant (Moorside Legal on behalf of NCP) and they said that the Claimant had withdrawn the claim 2 days before the hearing date today!
On the one hand, very relieved, on the other I kind of wish I had been able to use the witness statement and the hours and hours of research I've poured into this in court. My case was only £262.23 that now is confirmed I NEVER have to pay. Not a lot to some people but it became far more about the principle than the money.
I am extremely grateful to the hardworking people on this forum for the help on my particular case defense and the Newbies Thread guide! Without the previous examples and the step by step process outlined there (link at the bottom of this post), I would never had been able to take this on. THANK YOU
To anyone reading this: If Moorside Legal or a debt collection company have sent you a letter and the Particulars of Claim are similar to the one in the first post of this thread then Don't pay! They may string this process along until the absolute last moment up to the hearing but if you do your homework, follow the Newbies Thread Guidance then today is proof you might not even have to go to court and not have to pay anything! All the information you need is on this forum. If you're in a similar position start here:5 -
Yay! Very well done.
ANOTHER ONE BITES THE DUST!
You realise you could email the court to ask for your costs? Did you take a day off work? See the two examples of that (after very late discontinuance) in the second post of the NEWBIES thread.
Like DCB Legal (whose MO they have copied) Moorside Legal show no real intention to attend hearings.
A shocking serial abuse of the E&W court service on our experience.
Around half of all small claims are parking claims (with 90% causing CCJs, and the rest paid out of fear or almost all dropped like hot potatoes once they are about to see the whites of a judge's eyes).
It should be an embarrassment to the MoJ, that so much time and expense of HMCTS is being p133ed down the drain when they could easily ban this sector from using MCOL and shine a light on these champertous, inflated rip-off claims.
PRIVATE 'PCN'? DON'T PAY BUT DON'T IGNORE IT (except N.Ireland).
