Thank you for posting, marahouti. I joined this thread in 2018 so have been around for the same sort of time as you, although you have articulated far better than I could, just how much of a help and support this thread has proved to be. Also like you, I would now consider myself to be a very moderate / occasional drinker and I’m happy to go long stretches without drinking anything at all. This is all a very long way from where I used to be.

I am very motivated by that Peacock!

@maggiem, thank you. It would be very easy to use the situation as an excuse for eating and drinking all of the things but I am bribing myself with £5 per night gardening crediting for every night I don't drink. I generally prefer plants to alcohol but sadly not always.
