Zafira b 1.8 petrol cranking but not starting

Hey everyone, as above the car turns over but does not start up, I've changed over identical relays for the fuel pump, and the fuse checks out over a multimeter, the pedal test reveals codes : 59761- thermostat 68506 and 60130.
Any ideas what this could be? When ignition is turned before cranking I hear no fuel pump noise.
Cheers for any hints on where to start, I've heard fuel pumps are pretty robust?

68506 = P0685-06 and that's Main Circuit Relay Low Voltage.
Basically low voltage to the powertrain ECU.

60130 = P0601-30 and that's an Internal Memory Check Error.
Basically the powertrain ECU can't detect any of the other modules.

All things point to the ECU but there is evidence that these can suffer with a dodgy wire within the loom.

Thanks for posting, is there a way of testing without that tool? Very strange as it was starting perfectly then overnight boom nothing...

    It not easy.
If you had a wiring diagram and could identify the suspect wire and were is comes from/goes too, you could bypass this suspect wire with a length of good wire and see if it runs.

Other than that you need the wiring tested before thinking of condemning the ECU, perhaps there's a local automotive electrical engineer or a diagnostic specialist you can use.
Most are usually mobile, so will come out to you.

Hey goudy, just want to say thanks so much, had a look at loom today and found a wire had already been partly replaced and soldered, it snapped with a little pull, but still same fault, then right further down in the awkward area I noticed half inch of green corrosion so stripped both points and choc blocked together, checked for continuity and hey presto the cars starting!!
Just need it soldered and heat shrinked by a mobile guy to fix properly I guess, should be a very quick Job !! Amazing help cheers again !!

That's great news. I love a cheap fix.

You can buy a cheap soldering iron and all the bits to solder it yourself.
It probably won't be the last time you need one.

Get a gas powered soldering iron (Iroda on Amazon or ebay), they run on butane that you fill fag lighters with and you won't ever struggle to plug it in.
