  • I am planning on using some of the money from the functions and overtime to clear off some of the debts like the next bill, cheques,a and l and the £500 that we owe the parents.
This would then free up another £99 per month.

Can't you get free Sky internet?

I'm wondering if it's time to look at a DMP but I guess it depends on the kids. How old are they? Will their childcare drop any time soon?

  • I can't look at a DMP unfortuantly. I work in finace and doing something like that could effect my job. If I was asked to leave my employment I would have to go somewhere else and I don't think I could get a job with the same starting salary that I am on now. My daughter is 6months old. She should get free child places from 2 years old.
Sky broadband may seem cheeper but I have looked into it and if I went for the free package it states that they could increase my package at any time dependant on the amount of gb im using. I am currently using over the £10 package for sky hence why i have decided to stay with AOL.
  • On the good news front, £17 per month now for Sky. We managed to keep our 2nd box and they have given it to us for free for 12 months.
Also I have called Working Family tax credits and they have advised that we should get £60 per month to help towards our childcare and that they can back date it for the last 90 days meaning £180. Wooh!!
This £180 plus £78 that needs refunding to my card still will go off the Capitalone card as they charge 5% per month of the balance and it is 29.9% interest. This should leave it at £216.66. I can easily clear this off with my overtime and then the functions can start clearing the debt to parents, cheques, and the next account.
    I will get there!!!!

Keep fighting :) It's nice to be able to use that strikethrough

  • Well today I have spoke to next and reduced the creditlimit from £3600 to the balance that is on the account so that the temptation has gone.
I have also contacted all the creditcards and asked them to withdraw the credit facility which means that I cannot respend any money which I have cleared off the account as the creditlimit will show as £0.

    Getting there... Slowly!

Which is the next highest interest one to tackle? Make it a challenge to yourself to get them one at a time - it's a great boost

  • Hi Gemmzie,

It is the Capitalone card it is 29.9% and they won't reduce the interest on it. Thought they might do something as I used to work there and thought that they might give a bit of a lee way.
That card should be cleared by end of Feb. Hopefully.

Good news though... My hubbue has been offered another job, same company more money and he's going for a trial tomorrow and I have been asked to see the boss in regards to the department Managers job that I wanted. Hopefully these will turn out ok as they say good things come in threes and I fould a tenner yesterday.

    Hi there MM,

glad things are looking up for you.

I see that you don't have anything in your SOA for car maintenance/servicing or road tax or MOT. On the plus side you're saving £25 a month for emergencies, (is this actually being saved or is it an aspiration?)

Is your income still currenetly less than your outgoings?

  • Hi Verbatim,

Yes the savings are being done. Although you cannot withdraw the money for 12 months- Unless you close the account so this is encouraging as it means that I can't mess around transferring it.
I will be putting a February soa up next week when I get my payslips and final bills and this is should add up. My challenge this month is to reduce the shopping bill to £160. It may be tough with all the baby milk and nappies that we buy though
