Hi,
Does anyone knows whats the approx. cost to create new doorway (internal with lintel) , door frame and haging door (in midlands)? Std. door width (762mm)
Its on groundfloor, brick wall, load bearing.
Also do I need to get Building regs involved?
Thanks

Do you know the type of wall it is e.g. Timber stud, block, brick?
You also need to know if it's a load bearing wall.
Is it on the ground floor?
Probably in excess of £1000.1 -

(I think - and its just my guess by looking at other houses on the street but it used to a had door in the same place which was removed by previous owner before creating an open plan living room).0 -
It's notifiable work, so should really inform Building Control.
Brickwork makes it a lot more dusty. Nowadays, the builders will normally put the Stihl through the wall for the opening. It is possible to use other methods, but there's still a fair bit of dust.
If you're lucky and there was a door there before, they might have just blocked up the opening and not tied it in, and it'll knock out easily.1 -
If there was a door before it means the load has already been catered for when they created the open plan? so if you don’t remove anything but just build around and on sides or put stud walls then add door frame you don’t need to notify anyone or even put lintel? 🤷♀️ric1982 said:
