Hi all , I have the above Ins and need to make claim on pest control(rats) in the roof.  Will this affect NCD or cause increase next year. It's is part of the policy not an add on. Might be cheaper to get the council so you think ? Any help or experience with this. Thanks in advance

Home insurance does not have an NCD scheme like motoring. It is just a simple have you made a claim in X years question.

Might not even be an insurance matter, have you checked the policy?

It's part of the Home Emergency cover, typically this will not be considered a Home claim however some insurers do treat it as such if you renew with them. You'd need to read the policy book in more detail to see what it says.

Increasingly it does however its much simpler than car insurance as you typically lose it all if you make a claim, assuming you haven't bought NCD Protection, rather than the step down to 3 years/lose 2 years that Motor does.
