I’ve noticed that when opening new bank accounts and savings accounts with Lloyds they no longer issue the 30 sort codes and all seem to be 77 is this a new thing?

Originally Trustee Savings Bank before they were taken over by Lloyds who then moved the accounts to Lloyds codes. My first one was issued in March.

It may in part be a recognition that sort codes relate more to a type of banking rather than a branch perhaps.
Interesting (at least to me) is that there's still a sort code 77-00-32 which is for their traveler cheque clearing.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on Debt Free Wannabe and Old Style Money Saving boards. When the "new" TSB was created in 2013, the sort codes went with the branches, so both Lloyds and the new TSB have some branches with a 30 sort code, and some with a 77 sort code.
It probably means that all the original Lloyds branches, which used the 30 codes, have closed down near you, and only the old TSB 77 branches are left.steven141 said:I’ve noticed that when opening new bank accounts and savings accounts with Lloyds they no longer issue the 30 sort codes and all seem to be 77 is this a new thing?
Also, as branches have closed down, sort codes have been reallocated to other branches nearby, and each branch could notionally serve both 30 and 77 sort codes. The branch finder on Lloyds' website used to list the sort codes served by each branch, and for some of them there were several sort codes listed, from both ranges. Sadly, the branch finder no longer lists the sort codes.6 -

I’m based in Edinburgh and my Lloyds current account starts 30 and has a London branch which would match what people are saying.I have opened savings accounts and they all start 77 now. Also I know of others here who have opened Lloyds current accounts and they have got a 77 sort code.I have used TSB in the past and Lloyds TSB and they always had an 87 sort code.0

I opened a TSB account in the 90s which was 77. Then the branch became LloydsTSB and then Lloyds after the de-merger. My sort code is still 77.

My TSB current accounts have 87 codes - opened in 2010. My very ancient Lloyds a/c (from over 40 years ago) is a 30 one, branch still exists.
