Student year studying abroad

My daughter is lucky enough to be spending 2 of her 4 university years in Europe with the first in France imminent. Her uni have provided a travel insurance that covers emergencies and she will be entitled to some cover under CAF once there. 

She is covered for travel under our annual policy but obviously only for travel that starts and ends in the UK. 

I can’t seem to find what I’m looking for which is insurance that will cover her trips home or if she fancies making the most of living in the Schengen area and travel cheaply to another country for a night etc…

Since she will be resident in France, she will be able to buy policies sold to French residents. That is something for her to arrange after her arrival there.
