    The OP seems to have resolved their issue now, and it seems in a way that satisfies the OP.

    I just wanted to pick up on this "power imbalance" comment.
    The CCR have a specific exemption to cancellation for leisure activities with a specific date - which a flight booking would be.  
    It therefore follows that airlines offer the standard ticket - which is non changeable - and the options for changeable tickets have an additional charge - effectively an insurance policy as the rights are then in excess of legal consumer rights.
