Thanks, @Gem-gem. The raspberry ripple colours look nice together. Lovecrafts have a couple of free patterns. I might have found my holiday project! 👏👏
I've just finished Cuthbert caterpillar for DD2. It was her 40th yesterday and I wanted it done so I can concentrate on other things. Her friend got it for her to make, because she can make anything, obviously!2025 Fashion on the ration

Hi all, thanks for the clarification about clothes for under 4's 😁 . I bought a pack of baby grows and splashed out on a baby bath towel because it was so cute with Winnie the pooh, Piglet and Eeyore on the little hood bit 😁. Mum was delighted with them 😁.
My sister was born in the middle of the war and I have no idea how my Mum coped at all with my Dad being away at sea and her working in the munitions factory though she was living with her aunt, uncle and 2 younger cousins so I suppose they just mucked in and helped with the childcare while the relatively high wages Mum earned helped as well. I do remember my Dad saying she earned more than him and was a bit miffed when he found out, especially as his ship was torpedoed twice in the south Atlantic, limping into Cape town for repairs the first time but sunk the second time. He worked in the engine room and was, I think, a bit traumatised by it but all he ever said was that that was when he learned to swim. He was in the water for nearly 36 hours before he was picked up. Mum never talked about her war experiences at all but I imagine it was also a bit traumatic living in a city that experienced a lot of bombing.
Take care everyone11 -
Beautiful @MrsCD. By chance I bought the enamel mug at TKM yesterday, part of the move from plastic picnic ware.10

I love your Cuthbert @MrsCD Very cute.
@Nelliegrace that's a really sweet mug. I'd be careful with it, though. Hot tea will burn. (I have vivid memories of hiking with enamel mugs during my DofE, and they would get scaldingly hot.)
I have a spend to declare: 2 coupons spent on a 100g/220m hank of "Sabrina the Tarantula" DK yarn from Toft. It was the colours that got me, blue and yellow similar to the Ukrainian flag. No, I won't be crocheting a Tarantula. I'll probably make a keyhole scarf similar to this one (Rav link), however the pattern I have in mind is from a 1936 edition of the (Australian) New Idea Knitting Book.

I love the caterpillar and am inspired to contemplate another knitted bag for my shopping. I made one years ago for myself and a couple for other people but mine stretched so much that it now houses the clip-together large building blocks for the grandkids (ostensibly. It's usually uncles who actually play with the things). With hindsight I needed to pay more attention to the instructions because those shopping bags can be so useful.I think a bit of sunshine is good for frugal living. (Cranky40)

Thanks everyone! Cuthbert was a bit of a pain to make because the pattern wasn't right and I had to wing it a bit! First and last though....absolutely no more toys. I'll stick to clothes and blankets. Much easier. 😉😅

@Liverpool_Anne the story about your family was so interesting. It must have been a terrifying time for all. Fingers crossed that we will never have to experience it.My first ever animal blankie made from scrap / leftover wool - not a bee, a duck. A new born will be the recipient. I have started the bee blankie. I played wool roulette with the yellow. I had 1cm of wool left on the granny square. I was holding my breath. I didn't have enough grey left to do the final row - scallop edge. I don't think the baby will mind. (Also, It was one row narrower).2025 Fashion on a ration 0/66 coupons
