I'm in too. Officially I have 26 coupons to carry over, but I'm going to use them on new towels instead, and just stick to 66 coupons again this year. I'll amend the signature in the NY.
I've got a heap of mending to do anyway - replacing zips, darning, that sort of thing and I need to get cracking on it.Sealed Pot Challenge no 035.

I'm in too, please! I do have coupons to spare; I don't want to carry them over but might kind of keep them in a mental "overspend" bank in case of emergencies! I need to thin out my wardrobe or at least wear everything in it; I have been consciously wearing some of my rarely-worn "treasures" over Christmas & thoroughly enjoyed doing so. My downfall, if I can't manage to behave, will be a) shoes, although I don't think I need anything at the moment, and b) fabric - as ever! I have an entire room full of fabric but somehow there's never exactly what I need... So I need to use up more of what I already have, & move on a fair amount of the rest, but there will inevitably be some stuff I have to buy.Angie - GC Mar 25: £347.68/£500: 2025 Fashion on the Ration Challenge: 21/68: (Money's just a substitute for time & talent...)7

Count me in, please!
I actually used very few of my coupons, but tried to sort-of-'buy' things for other people who needed it. (Can't stand spivs!) I've still got 10 coupons, which I've decided to carry over because I need a couple of pairs of shoes. I'm determined to get fit and lose weight too. I do have some pre-war clothes I'll fit back into (eventually!) but may need a few new things.
I've got a sewing machine, which is currently with DD. Having moved into a flat, she bought a sofa and wants to make covers for the cushions and matching seat covers. (She bought some rather nice sage green velvet curtains from a charity shop - so cheaper and no coupons. They're not long enough for the floor to ceiling windows, but there's more than enough material for her purposes.) And I've got to lose the weight first! 🤣A budget is like a speed sign - a LIMIT not a TARGET!!
CHALLENGES

I'm in as well please.
I also blew it in 2024 - again having to replace a lot because of weight loss. I love Maryb's idea of a prudent 1939. I'm aiming to lose a bit more this year but will also be aiming to make more of what I need - fabric and wool stash is fairly large.
I also will be aiming for second hand as I may need to save my coupons for underwear if I lose more weight.
I have a few cheese scones to offer, with grated carrot incorporated to stretch them.“the princess jumped from the tower & she learned that she could fly all along. she never needed those wings.”

Thank you Pip! My aims this year are to go on making cloth I already have (rather a lot) into clothing, and modifying clothing I have (and like) but don't wear for some reason. Most of that is sewing, but I've just dyed a nice but pallid-coloured sweater so it's now one I will wear. (I'm hopeless at knitting, so actually making sweaters is way beyond me. ) It's a nice feeling to enjoy wearing things that I liked but were not right in some way or other before this.
I think I may need to buy some shoes and possibly underwear, but that's all I can foresee. Being retired makes a big difference to clothing needs, I reckon.
A peaceful and happy New Year to all!9 -
Hi all,
I am in for 2025 please. Thank you @PipneyJane for running this, you are an absolute star 🌟. This thread really helps me to control my spending on clothes. I have coupons left from 2024 and will carry them over as I am sure underwear will be required at some point in the year having worn out a few pairs. I will post my numbers later as I need some thicker trousers for the colder weather and I have hopes I might find some by the end of the year. I am also hoping to lose some more weight so some things might need replacing
. I was lucky enough to be gifted a pair of trainers for Christmas so shoes should be fine but I am approaching the end of life of my slippers
.
I have a small amount of yarn that I got to make presents for specific people that didn't get done so I will try to make 12 things from the yarn I have before I get any more, getting a head start on next Christmas.
I have sufficient towels and tea towels to last another year but I think I will need some bedding at some point as what I have is getting quite worn but the problem is that I love what I have and despite looking have not yet found a replacement that I love as much
Right off to look for trousers
Take care everyone9 -
I'm in again!Have just picked up 3 packs of Lidl Annika sock yarn, ((I know I know - though thank you for the heads up PipneyJane) - another 12 coupons to declare for 2024), BUT 2025 is going to be flat out yarn stash busting. Coupons will be used for replacing towels first of all, as the other half has started to make comments along the lines of 'why are you putting that rag in the towel basket'. I do want to make something from the old toweling though. Wild swimming is on the cards in 2025, so perhaps a towelling robe if I can piece enough material together.Fashion on the Ration 2025 20/667
