Greetings all,
I have found some newspaper adverts from 1942 that support our original allocation of 2 coupons for underwear (the advert below has rayon Knickers listed as 2 coupons and the longer wool or locknit Panties as 3 coupons)

This is also supported by the Coupons Quiz from September 1941, where there is an additional item for undergarments listed as:
- Body belt, non-woollen briefs (no legs), camisole ..... 2 coupons

P.S Are we still thinking of altering our coupon values using the updated list from July 1941?So, well done for the original members of the forum - you were definitely on the right track for the coupon value for modern styles of underwear.

I think we should put it to the vote, @kiwisavings. Does anyone know how we insert a poll into a post in the newstyle forum?
Do you have a screenshot of the first page of the above? It looks far more comprehensive than the original listing.
You and me both, @MrsCD. (Stop buying yarn, that is.) The one thing that helps me is that my desk is in the spare room, surrounded by stash. I can see my riches.MrsCD said:I'm afraid I have totally lost the plot with my coupons after buying clothes and gloves for both DDs for Christmas. 🙄

Hi @PipneyJane, sorry, I'm not sure how to do a vote on this forum.
If we do decide to use the Coupon Quiz of September 1941, I can do screenshots.
The Quiz was included in this book (that I have on Kindle):

The underwear looks very stylish in the advert, @kiwisavings. However would women cope with combinations? With all of the tea drinking, one would be dressing and undressing all day!
I have bought some good old fashioned, felted wool berets. They weren’t expensive and there were lots of colours available, and still coupon free.6 -
I agree @Nelliegrace, I especially like the top set.Nelliegrace said:The underwear looks very stylish in the advert, @kiwisavings. However would women cope with combinations? With all of the tea drinking, one would be dressing and undressing all day!

The colours sound pretty too, peach, apple (light green?), lagoon (bluegreen?), gold and parchment (off white?)2026 Fashion on the Ration:

Good morning All
Firstly, a spend to declare: 3x50g skeins of Regia 6-fädig Crazy Colour Sock Yarn in the colourway Passion, purchased because I got half way through the second of these socks and ran out of yarn:
This is a pair of socks that I’ve been thinking about making for years. I originally bought 2x50g skeins of yarn for these socks in 2007, gave a pair to a friend for Christmas, started a second pair for myself in 2008 but gave those to DH’s aunt (had to order a 3rd skein for those), got left with about a quarter of a skein so found someone on Ravelry who was doing a de-stash and purchased the best part of 2 skeins from her - she’d started a sock and then frogged it - then tucked it all away in the stash. In the meantime, 2020, Regia stopped producing this colourway…
Fast forward to November, when I finally cast on and made two mistakes: firstly, I didn’t weigh the yarn before I cast on, so I don’t actually know how much there was; and secondly, only after I completed the first sock did I realise that I’m using the wrong sized DPNs! (I didn’t measure them until then and discovered that they’re 3.25mm instead of 3mm.)
< sigh >. At least I can report that the sock fits, but I’m still debating frogging and reknitting on 3mm needles. I have at least 2 sets, but can I find them???
Anyway, on Wednesday I reached the heel of the second sock and confronted the bitter truth, that I’d be lucky to finish the heel, let alone knit the foot. Went back to Ravelry; couldn’t find anyone with an available skein. Tried Google and, amazingly, found the website of a yarn shop in Sutton Coldfield, which had 3 skeins. Naturally, I bought them all. They were also selling 15cm-long 3mm bamboo DPN’s, so guess who bought some?
Everything arrived yesterday, so beautifully packed that I had to share a photo:
6 coupons spent. This brings my total spend to 57.5 coupons, leaving 8.5 coupons to last until 31st December/roll over to 2026.

Hi all, I have been present shopping and have spends to declare 😁. 6 fleeces, a scarf and a pair of socks. What can I say, weird fish had a sale on and I like this brand so several people have got them as gifts this year 😂. I make that 33 coupons used . Also a dress bought for a friend, child aged 12 so another 7 coupons and a pair of baby shoes which I think are coupon free as he's only 9 months old. So grand total of 40 coupons. Unfortunately I only had 23.5 coupons remaining so I have had to resort to the black market 😂, roll on next year when I can start again 😁.
Take care everyone7 -
You know how I said I would have to stop buying yarn? Weeelllll, I really wanted to buy the Sugar Plum Blanket kit, by Marion Mitchell from Wool Warehouse so.....DH has used some of his coupons to buy it for me for Christmas! 😁😁😁😁😁
I downloaded the pattern and have had a quick look, and I can't wait to get started.2025 Fashion on the ration
