How quickly/slowly did your welcome letter and passbooks arrive? My account has been open for a couple of weeks and don't really want to contact them if it's normal.
    9 working days.

I applied online last Monday and also posted my cheque 1st class the same day. Received the welcome pack and passbook on Saturday and the deposit was dated last Tuesday in the passbook.

Slightly off topic, but I'm sure this will be relevant to others, I've just started using Zopa with their 4.75% account as my holding account for funds waiting to go into my RS. Previously using Chase. Can anyone tell me whether they process 5 figure transfers promptly to, in my case, Santander, where my standing orders are set up from? I usually do a manual transfer from the holding account the day before payments are due.
When I first opened a Zopa Smart Saver account (back in 2022), withdrawals from an Access pot to my high-street bank current account took around 15-20 minutes but a year or so later, they were more-or-less instant (took less than a minute).

Anyone had any luck opening  the Monthly Saver?
I keep getting "Something went wrong" message.
    Tried since Thursday

They have quite stringent rules about opening a new account if you have previously had one which you've closed early; is this the case?  I've had some problems with them in the past where I closed one about 7/8 months early to "refresh" it, as I've heard people calling it on here; I wasn't able to open a new one for a while, about 4/5 months if I remember correctly.

Although they're the same banking group as Halifax and Lloyds, they don't operate in the same way, as the patronising customer service person took great delight in telling me!
No, it matured Thursday 23rd October, but thanks.
Did you make a payment into the account in October?  If so it may be a case of the max into a RS per month?
No payment made in October. Still no luck. I will phone them shortly.
  • No, it lets me apply for other accounts OK. Looks like a phone call on Monday if it still doesn't play ball then.nderLloyds/Halifax/Bank of Scotland all had issues with their IT systems last week and they were caught up in the Amazon/AWS server problems.  It is a fresh week so will it let you reapply this morning?

If it doesn't I'd be seriously tempted to look at an account with another provider given there are a number of accounts currently available paying more than 5%.
No luck yet. I will phone them shortly.

Transfers from Zopa to Santander should be instant.

Definitely off topic, particularly so because there is a Zopa savings thread

Their website states max 2 withdrawals per tax year, but 1 year Online Smart Saver (TAR10) T's&C's sheet sent with welcome letter states max 2 per Society year. CS have confirmed the website is correct and T's&C's sheet will be corrected.

What is Hanley's Society year? Calendar year or something unique?
