I guessed as much from the wording used on their website.granta said:Scottish Building Society
When I called on Friday to request a paper form, I was told that they are hoping to make the regular saver available to open online in a few weeks. I'm not planning to wait until but some people might prefer to.
It's also possible, if/when they do an online version, that they will allow both to be opened.4 -
Completely off topic but I won a prize for being the nth saver (can remember, maybe 500th) at Midland Bank in the brand new then Tesco Brent Park. Was about age 10. Unknown to me why, the bank manager came to my primary school to pick me up in his car in the middle of class, and take me into the bank for some old style photo opps. I do remember I got 5 * old style £5 notes and some other bits and pieces, the 'story' made it into the local free newspaper. That was way back when having a bank at a supermarket was a complete novelty. In fact the massive supermarket in the middle of London was in of itself quite the novelty, with a petrol station et al.HHUK said:
Came in a Midland Bank holdall as I recall. Probably talking late 80s? Wouldn't surprise me if my daughter still has her dictionary, but I suspect the geometry set has long since been discarded.s71hj said:
Oh, I recall my first bank account, a "Griffin Saver". Lots of lovely lovely tat came with it.3 -
I’d rather have an opening date closer to the end of the month for SBS, so will only send the form off if the e version doesn’t materialise with the same terms. Progressive tomorrow, hopefully the authenticator isn’t too bad as I don’t have WhatsApp. Does the authenticator need to be downloaded from an App Store or it just pops up in the browser?0

Do you already have an authenticator app in use for other login(s)? You can use the same one or, if not, download one from your App Store. Google and Microsoft have commonly used apps but there are others. Most people have an Authenticator on their mobile device but they are available for Windows, Ente Auth is one I've used.Kim_13 said:Progressive tomorrow, hopefully the authenticator isn’t too bad as I don’t have WhatsApp. Does the authenticator need to be downloaded from an App Store or it just pops up in the browser?

If you prefer, they can arrange for you to receive emails instead. That's what I've done, you just need to ask them.Kim_13 said:I’d rather have an opening date closer to the end of the month for SBS, so will only send the form off if the e version doesn’t materialise with the same terms. Is the authenticator only necessary if you don't want to use Whatsapp?flaneurs_lobster said:

You can choose either, you don't need both.clairec666 said:

Vernon BS RS:Opened this account last year - on 02/10/2024 - and was expecting it to mature on 02/10/2025 but was pleasantly surprised that it won't actually mature until 31/10/2025 as the T&Cs state "Interest is calculated daily and added to your account annually at the end of the month the account was opened." I guess this makes it an outlier compared to other RSs as it's beneficial to open this account at the beginning of the month rather than towards the end.Principality BS Christmas 2025 Regular Saver:I fund my RSs manually - went a bit trigger happy and sent a 13th payment to this account last Wednesday (01/10/2025) and even though T&Cs state "If your bond reaches £1,500, you cannot pay any more money in." it was credited no problem and now my balance is £1,625.00. As I haven't tried this before it made me think about other peoples' experiences with Principality accepting 7th/13th payments into their RSs?1

Yes, mine ended on Sept 30th. In case you didn't know, the balance, excluding £1, transfers over to the Easy Access account that the opened at the same time, and the monthly payments can continue as it's open ended Remember to withdraw from the Easy Access account as it only pays 2%. The EA account doesn't need to be held above £100.Chaykin said:Vernon BS RS:Opened this account last year - on 02/10/2024 - and was expecting it to mature on 02/10/2025 but was pleasantly surprised that it won't actually mature until 31/10/2025 as the T&Cs state "Interest is calculated daily and added to your account annually at the end of the month the account was opened."1
