Progressive - never had an account with them before, so appreciate others sharing their experiences. 7% is worth snapping up, I don't mind accounts which are a bit slow or quirky for that rate.
Opened an easy saver account with them today to make my life easier on Monday and be already a member. It took 5 minutes, 1 pound sent with my Visa Debit and immediately on the account on line. Identification done on line (have your passport or ID ready), nominated account registered also in no time. Easy, simple, immediate.

Progressive BS to launch issue 4 of their online regular rainy day saver on Monday 6/10/25 at 7%
Bad news for me stuck with Issue 3 at 5.5% and although withdrawals are allowed it says the account cannot be closed. Plus only one issue of Rainy Day accounts allowed at a time.
Same for me. "can w/d alll but £1 (per T&C) but £25 per advisor... but not close therefore no new/better account !

For those who have the Adcock account: according to the latest news the online services should be up and running again on Monday
In the meantime their head office and branches have also moved to a new system as part of this process so bear that in mind when contacting them as their staff still seem to be getting to grips with it.

They've said to me today that faster payments out of the accounts could also take longer than usual to arrive until everything's back up and running.

They took it down last Monday night, expecting to have it back after three days.

    Upgrade's going well then.....

I think I'll leave them to it for the time being. They seemed to be struggling a bit when I spoke to them today (all I wanted to do was a few internal transfers), it took them about 15 minutes on the phone, the woman I spoke to said she'd only managed to get into the new system today and kept having to put me on hold whilst she asked a new colleague which buttons to press.

Hopefully they'll get themselves sorted eventually, if not and they do a TSB on us I'll just have to complain and get a bit of money out of them again.

Oh, I recall my first bank account, a "Griffin Saver". Lots of lovely lovely tat came with it.
Came in a Midland Bank holdall as I recall. Probably talking late 80s? Wouldn't surprise me if my daughter still has her dictionary, but I suspect the geometry set has long since been discarded.

I presume you spoke to them today with the knowledge of the upcoming launch of issue 4? £25 is a bit random, it is not the minimum operating amount for any of the previous issues that I can see, makes me think the person you spoke to didn’t really know what they were talking about…

They dropped our rates previously and we accepted that’s part of the deal because it’s variable, but when they decide to put up the rate they’re happy for us to lose out. Odd that a building society would behave this way, not illegal, but hardly ethical.

I’m confused as every account I look at indicates it’s for residents of Northern Ireland only. Is that the case?
