And the same goes for me and all have had payments made with no issues.SJMALBA said:FWIW, all of my Mon BS accounts, inc. this year's 'Regular Saver Issue 8', 'Branch Exclusive Regular Saver Issue 1' and 'App Exclusive Regular Saver Issue 1', are numeric only.I choose the rooms that I live in with care,
The windows are small and the walls almost bare,
There's only one bed and there's only one prayer;
I listen all night for your step on the stair.0 -
Looks like a day trip to Shrewsbury - does anyone think that they might want an appointment made??? Might give them a ringConfused_Dog said:
The West Brom have made their Fixed Rate Regular Saver one that only can be opened in branch, rather than online, seems to be a bit of a backward step to me. https://www.westbrom.co.uk/savings/regular-savers/fixed-rate-regular-saver-issue-7schiff said:West Brom RS 7 maturity details received today. No decent replacement RS, just a RS account at 2.35%. Disappointing.
Rate currently 6% and their branches are in the Birmingham and Black Country area, but they've not had one in Birmingham City Centre for a while.“Create all the happiness you are able to create; remove all the misery you are able to remove. Co-Operative RS
So I have now got the CA opened. And have applied for their RS and been approved for that. More waiting now for it to appear on the app or online. How long does that take?0 -

X isn't a number, it's a letter. The OP said they had a 10 digit number.WillPS said:subjecttocontract said:My Monmouth Branch Exc' reg saver doesn't end in an X......It's just a 10 digit numeric. Suggest you just use the 10 digit number you have as the reference, leaving the X off. Try it with £1 to test it.
Don't do this
the X is part of the number. X is a number - in base 11 - which this probably is, and any higher bases.It's also a number in roman numerals.

Did you mean where the check digit results in "10", Modulo 11 replaces that with "X". ?pafpcg said:The trailing "X" is part of the account number. All account numbers have a check digit at the end and it appears that MonBS are using the Modulo 11 algorithm to calculate the check digit - where the check digit results in "1", Modulo 11 replaces that with "X". It can be hugely frustrating because validation of incoming data can't just test for and reject any non-numeric characters. Even MonBS themselves fall foul of the problem - a few years ago, they had a form on their web-site to submit maturity instructions - their own form would not accept account numbers with the "X" character!Eco Miser

Last year I opened an account at Shrewsbury without the need for appointment, though I did have to wait for the lady in the "interview room" to finish dealing with another account opening.Reg_Smeeton said:mhoc said:

A year earlier I opened an account at Oswestry, and that was opened without delay.
I guess you either drop lucky, or you don't.0 -
