YBS Regular saverI opened the YBS 50 pound regular esaver 2 weeks ago as a new member of the society. Opened it online, no problems with passing their ID check, which included uploading a copy of driving licence to their ID checking partner. Account funded. Set up the app for online access. I am a happy customer.A heads up - just had a courtesy call from a branch, one of two that are both about 15 miles away, to check that I am happy, advise me that I can use the branch, but that I would need to bring ID with a signature to conduct business in branch. Friendly call, excellent customer service, but now I guess I wait for a call from the five other building societies I have RS accounts with.0

I now have the account number in the app. It’s a 10 digit number but it ends in an X. Is that normal?I want to transfer some funds before the month ends but I also want to be certain that the details are correct!2 -

I've never had courtesy calls from any of the banks/BS I have money invested in, and I'd be inclined to treat any such call with suspicion if I did so!Make £2025 in 2025

Don't do thisthe X is part of the number.
The trailing "X" is part of the account number. All account numbers have a check digit at the end and it appears that MonBS are using the Modulo 11 algorithm to calculate the check digit - where the check digit results in "1", Modulo 11 replaces that with "X". It can be hugely frustrating because validation of incoming data can't just test for and reject any non-numeric characters. Even MonBS themselves fall foul of the problem - a few years ago, they had a form on their web-site to submit maturity instructions - their own form would not accept account numbers with the "X" character!

As Monmouthshire begin the account term from the date of initial funding, waiting for a COP match and then funding is the obvious solution.

FWIW, all of my Mon BS accounts, inc. this year's 'Regular Saver Issue 8', 'Branch Exclusive Regular Saver Issue 1' and 'App Exclusive Regular Saver Issue 1', are numeric only.0

What usually happens to the Everyday Saver when the Halifax RS matures?
I received a letter from them at the weekend saying that the Everyday Saver ends its term on 1st December (obviously same day as the RS) and gave 3 options - a) renew for another 12 months; b) transfer balance (currently zero); c) close the account or if I do nothing, it converts to an Instant Saver on the 2nd December.
Their Regular Saver page makes no mention of the Everyday Saver converting to an Instant Saver after 12 months. I know the RS itself automatically renews at maturity, i'm just trying to figure out what the usual next step is with regards to the Everyday Saver - if it converts to an Instant Saver, will they then open another Everyday Saver when the RS renews - or should I just renew the Everyday Saver now (or closer to maturity)?0 -
