Yorkshire BS - Thanks everyone who responded, to my query, very helpful.
I tried again via the app and it sent me online from the phone which I've never used before (always use online from my laptop) but at least got passed the login! Had to set up myself as new payee on matured acct and it was fussy about how much I could transfer but managed to leave just £1.53. Will close another day when its being less glitchy! So hopefully will have my money tomorrow.
What a palaver though, not sure I'll bother again, just not worth the hassle for such small amounts. I do have 30+ regular savers and they are not usually much hassle to administer but YBS rates have been dire of late, so I've steered clear. Now there are quite a few offering larger pay-ins I think I'll stick with those, although won't turn down multiple Principalities as haven't any issues to date with those

Monmouth Branch Exc RS saga
I had sent my postal application end Aug with a cheque (the only cheque book I have). I called Monm last week & this week on 8 Sep, they checked & said they didn't receive it. It was suggested that I cancel the cheque & resend the application.
I called HSBC & requested for stop cheque. I would rather eat straw than call HSBC, they are the absolute worst.
Today, in my app, I see two Branch Exc RS, one with a credit of £500 dated 8 Sept. (cheque date 27 Aug)
Now that cheque is never going to clear, as theres 'stop cheque' on that.
Which of the two Branch accounts should I fund? or be cheeky & fund both, for my troubles?0 -
Applied for the Monmouth Branch 7% on 31st Aug by 2nd class post without cheque. Been checking my app daily and its just appeared on my app today.0

For those who do not have other accounts with YBS I would keep this account open with just a small amount in it. It's paying 4.05%, not the best rate but worth keeping as a foot in the door and still a reasonable rate.RosieRooBear said:

YBS £50 regular saver. Mine matured today but I can't take the money out!Bob2000 said:YBS £50 regular saver.
I saw that people were talking about how much interest their matured account generated a few pages back. Mine was £27.08
I know it isn’t a very exciting post, but I'm still new to all this.
I tried the app, and I can see the acct is now a different acct with the interest of £26.53 but the app doesn't allow you to close it, it says go online, however the online login isn't working, I've tried multiple times over the past 3 hours but can't get past first login screen. Tried different browsers, tried going to website manually rather than my bookmark and also tried going via the link in the help, all result in an 'error processing' message. Even tried their report an issue button which gave the same error.
Anyone else having issues with YBS online today, or has anyone successfully got their maturity funds today, so I know whether its just me :'(I choose the rooms that I live in with care,
The windows are small and the walls almost bare,
There's only one bed and there's only one prayer;
I listen all night for your step on the stair.2 -
dropping to 3.95% I think but still a better than average rate.

YBS
I closed my reg saver yesterday online and the funds, including the full amount of interest, were in my account this morning. No penalty for withdrawing a day early as some have had concerns about it a few pages ago.1 -
Having had to endure more than two fairly tortuous hours' spread over several phone calls, and getting absolutely nowhere, I tend to agree.ChewyyBacca said:I would rather eat straw than call HSBC, they are the absolute worst.2 -
Very strange as I saw a message warning about a day's deduction when I logged in to get my funds sent tomorrow.pecunianonolet said:YBS

No penalty for withdrawing a day early as some have had concerns about it a few pages ago. It's important to remember that interest is calculated at a fixed point in time based on a balance at that point of time. It isn't constantly recalculated (for example if you credited and debited money to an account on the same banking day). YBS calculated interest based on an overnight balance on 9th September and credited the account. What happens after that is a matter for the next calculation point. So, in that respect, the account wasn't closed "early" on the 9th because the 9th was the last day of the account's life and the interest for the 9th had already been calculated and paid. It's perhaps more a feature of the way that YBS operate their accounts that you see the interest on the last day before conversion rather than after conversion.2
