I know that there have been complaints about the slowness of MMBS and their alleged antiquated systems. Just wanted to give the other side.
Yesterday (Sunday) I did an online instruction to close my Exclusive Regular Saver Issue 2 (balance at £6K, 4.90% variable, maturity due 24th August). Took less than a minute to do. Cleared funds received early pm today in my nominated account:- £6,179. Transferred immediately to Cahoot Simple Saver (4.55%). Small diminution of interest but beats the rush on 24 August when I reckon there will be mass maturities at MMBS. Good to have the money ready for 1 September RS payments.2 -

If you log into your (new) online account, you can see your Darlington Account number that you must use with their sort code and account number (IIRC it is 40-05-30, 14575881). Or you can just use your debit card and make a deposit when logged in - though that takes 2-3 days to get credited.0 -

Opened Darlington and registered online and it was going so well but then they required proof of my linked bank account so I had to upload a pdf of a statement - I just uploaded page one with my name and address on as it runs to 4 pages - would one page be acceptable?
It then gave me a list but I had to tick "other" as bank statement was not listed as proof of ID and then UK - think I might have muddled this up.
I have sent across my initial deposit.
(Bank account I've had for decades so I've no idea why proof needed)
Added now to the never ending list of incomplete things I am waiting to hear about - Virgin, Monmouthshire and now Darlington

Is it too early to start speculating about UK Savings Week? 22nd - 28th September 2025
https://uksavingsweek.co.uk/
The players last year were:- Melton BS with a 6% var 2 year saver which has so far remained at 6%
- The Nottingham with a 6% var branch regular saver (which fell like a stone)
- HSBC boosted their regular saver from 5% to 7%
