Just applied for my first ever First Direct RS.Says it may take 3 working days to open and first deposit will be taken then.I set monthly deposit at £300. If it happens there is no cash in the FD current account at the time deposit is to be taken, what happens?1

I had and it hadn't bounced back but now it has. So their processes are presumably sophisticated enough to not allow 2 to be funded even if they will allow 2 to be openedallegro120 said:

Still showing but the 500 is only showing in one of themflaneurs_lobster said:
Interesting - to be clear, you had two RS showing in the app and now one of them has been removed?s71hj said:Re Monmouthshire, I got 2 RS accounts as many on here and my wife one. I made 500 payment in last night to my two and my wife's. Interestingly enough only one of my two is currently showing in the app
Have you checked you feeder bank account? My £500 was returned next day (late afternoon) after deposit. The account is still showing.1 -
Maybe, but I've got one with £500 in and the second has a quid.s71hj said:

I've probably broken it by paying £500 to the second today, rather than the £499 I actually meant to send.0 -
Dudley Loyalty RS passbook arrived today, listing my cheque deposit and an FP I sent once the account appeared online. Exactly a week from posting application to receipt of passbook.0

a) Your account goes into overdraft and FD text you asking you top up your account that day to avoid any interest; or
b) they text you saying they won't make the payment unless the money is there by a certain time when they will retry it
If you haven't, you can turn on notifications for the current account in the app as well.1 -
Likewise, applied Friday morning, 2 emails but nothing else.where_are_we said:Mon RS 8 @6%. Applied online on Friday. Got confirmation email same day. Nothing in post yet. Got put off installing the app so instead I then sent an online secure message last night requesting account number. I have just checked my online messages and commendably they replied with the necessary account number. Then deposited £500 for July to new account and cop worked.
After seeing your post, and assuming it would be too late to go down the secure message route (for deposit today), I phoned Mon BS (circa 14:15) who confirmed that the account was open, and that paperwork had been posted on Saturday. I asked if I could get the account number, but was told that they can't give it out over the phone, but could do so via secure message - I asked if I would likely get a reply today, and she said yes.
I sent a secure message, and 6 minutes(!) later, got a reply with the account number - new payee set up, COP worked, money sent.
Thanks for the heads-up, @where_are_we1 -
MonBS letter with signature form arrived today. Not sure why they felt the need to send a full-sized envelope, folded into four - surely that costs them more (large letter). Dug out smaller one from previously as it's easier to post into the small letter box up the road. Added account online, now showing as 'Pending'. Sent payment even though letter says won't be able to transact until signature form is received; however, CoP fine so hope it's credited today.2

The RS is usually open within a day in my experience, I normally move the funds out to a better rate and leave the £300 in the FD account ready to goAidanmc said:Just applied for my first ever First Direct RS.Says it may take 3 working days to open and first deposit will be taken then.I set monthly deposit at £300. I took the money from their basic saver on 22nd (Thur) as soon as the money was moved there, opened the new account and the first deposit was taken the same daySam Vimes' Boots Theory of Socioeconomic Unfairness:
People are rich because they spend less money. A poor man buys $10 boots that last a season or two before he's walking in wet shoes and has to buy another pair. A rich man buys $50 boots that are made better and give him 10 years of dry feet. The poor man has spent $100 over those 10 years and still has wet feet.

The payment should go through and they will ask you to restore your balance. If you have notifications turned on you will be notified on your phone, if not, you'l need to login every morning until it's done. SOs are normally paid very early in the morning. FD is much quicker with processing RSs than they used to be, so it is likely yours could be opened tomorrow.Aidanmc said:Just applied for my first ever First Direct RS.Says it may take 3 working days to open and first deposit will be taken then.I set monthly deposit at £300. I had exactly the same. The payment took 2 days to show in the account but it was backdated to the date it was sent.snow62 said:MonBS letter with signature form arrived today.
