Good morning everyone and thanks for the start @Gers. Stay safe x
Happy Birthday @remmie x
Foggy and damp here too (no, not pet names for DH and I). I have made the ragu for the lasagna which is now in the SC. Will assemble it later and cook tonight once we are back from DSis’s house. We have washing on the go and will also strip the bed before we go out.Last nights’ leftover pie was amazing and there’s some in the fridge for DS2 who missed out due to working. He can have it for lunch.Have a good day all and take care if you’re going out anywhere.Coxy xCross-stitch WIP: Fiver Friday challenge 2025 founding member 😊 Read 25 books in 2025 11/25 Currently reading The Cliff House by Amanda Jennings12 -
Morning all
Cold and damp here too and the fog is just lifting I will light the fire early today as it feels much colder. I am still coughing so much it’s getting silly now.
DD is off to work later on a late shift so just OH and I here for dinner not sure what we will have but we won’t starve still some cheese etc from Christmas to get through.
I might start taking the decs down today but I am not sure if I can be bothered yet so we will see, we also have OH tax return to do so might get that out of the way later.
Remmie Happy Birthday to you xxx
Have good days all and take care xx11 -
Morning all, thanks Gers.Happy Birthday Remmie, have a good day.I cut the turkey up yesterday, took me ages- some in the freezer, some for tea, and soup made. We're having a change from turkey today, Chinese chicken I think, or possibly prawn pil-pil ( DH signature dish). DS is out with friends. We swapped the furniture back yesterday, we moved the table to accomodate our guests on C Day. Normally one of the long sides is against a wall.We watched some football then a film last night. We might have a walk, slow going with DH crutches, and it's a miserable foggy day again so might call in the cafe for a hot drink if he can manage it.Time for another cuppa I think,I hope you have good days all:heartsmil 'A woman is like a teabag: You never know her strength until you drop her in hot water'. Dashing through the snow, in a one-horse open sleigh
Over the fields we go, laughing all the way;
Bells on bob-tail ring, making spirits bright
What fun it is to ride and sing a sleighing song tonight
Jingle bells, jingle bells, jingle all the way!
O what fun it is to ride in a one-horse open sleigh

Morning all and a Happy Birthday @remmie.
Yesterday we had a sunny but chilly day after the fog had lifted. The fog rolled back in last night and now it's misty with no wind; the sun is trying to break through but I think it's a losing battle.
I had a more productive day yesterday - one load of washing done, dusted in the living room and hallway, cleaned the toilet bowl and basin in the bathroom, rubbish put out, bed made and shopping done. I bought more milk and the latest TV guide and had a look round the YS section (as you do) and came home with celery, two onion bhajis and a tray of pork, cranberry & chestnut stuffing balls that are now in the freezer.
Tea was a fresh cod fillet coated in seasoned flour and breadcrumbs, lightly fried and accompanied by bread and butter, with salted caramel ice cream for afters. So simple but so welcome after the Xmas excesses. Today will be yet more picky bits; nice as they are, I'm looking forward to "normal" meals.
DS is still coughing and spluttering and has lost his voice but now has a seven day course of anti-b's for a nasty chest infection. The GP said he was the third person she'd seen that morning with the same complaint - and that was at 10.15 am.My sore throat is still here, no better but no worse either so I'll plod on with the paracetamol and keep my fingers crossed.
Nothing in particular planned for today, I might just curl up on the sofa with a book.
Have a good day whatever you have planned and take care. XBe kind to others and to yourself too.10 -
Afternoon - back from the shops in one piece. The fog and 'wetting rain' are awful so I'm glad to be home. I've bought a chicken which I'll roast on Monday to have the rest of the week with soup. My friend came along for the ride, I'm not sure if she thinks I need company.Happy Birthday @Remmie - I hope that you have a lovely day with more presents and a tasty birthday cake. Thanks to @Taff for the ditties, you're doing a grand job.Lunch is in the oven, after it I will settle down to watch the Poirot films, again!9

Afternoon All
Well, everyone has gone. I enjoyed their company but am glad to have the house back to myself. 10 for dinner Christmas Day and the same for Boxing Day. DS1 arrived with his clan on Boxing Day and stayed the night which meant there wasn't a bed for me so I went to my very good friends over the road for the night - was home again at 7.30 yesterday morning.
I've made a mercy dash to meet DS1 this morning, he left DGS's main present here. Thankfully DGS is at his Mum's until Tuesday so didn't miss it. We met at a garden centre half way and had a coffee and a catch up without any children!
DD and family have gone with DS2 and GF to Sheffield to see the Grandparents and they will fly home from Manchester on Monday.
Lots of bedding to wash but there's no hurry, the TD has done enough work over the last few days and I'm not using it any more! Still some leftovers to eat up, I've put some of the turkey and ham in the freezer for another day along with the sausages that hadn't been eaten. The beef wellington was absolutely delicious so well worth the eyewatering expense.
I've been struggling with a rotten cold over the festive days so am looking forward to a little nap in a bit before having a little tidy round.
Happy Birthday Remmie, hope you're having a good day.
Hugs to the poodles and anyone feeling sad.
Take care. XX10 -
Afternoon everyone and happy birthday Remmie
I had a catch up of everyone's news yesterday, but haven't got round to posting till now as I have eldest DD here until Monday. We're planning to have the day looking round the shops in Edinburgh before she flies home, but I'm wishing I had looked at the weather forecast first!
Little one had a lovely Christmas and Santa, and everyone else, was very good to her ...she has been on her feed the last few days, as her sugars kept going quite low, but hopefully DD will get her off it now the festivities are over. She's just been on the phone to say hello and inform me ' Granny it's only six sleeps till I'm six, can you believe it!' DD and I are taking her to the pantomime at Newcastle for her birthday, she doesn't know yet.
Right, I'm going to have a read then I have a lasagne to put together - eldest DD's favourite.
Take care everyone x11 -
Happy Birthday Remmie
