Opting out of fixed rate contract

Options
British Gas after investigating why my Gas smart meter will not show my daily usage etc on their Apps or Online website saying the meter is not compatible with their system etc.
Reason for it being Smets1 meter. I have had this issue for some 2yrs with the previous supplier, knowing that DCC are slow with the updates to sort the issue.
Where as BG will not replace both Smart meters to be compatible with their systems although they are sending them data of usage to compile the monthly bill but not on their App or Website for me to monitor our usage.
Can I use that as a reason to exit the contract without paying the exit fee’s to join another supplier who is compatible to Smets1 meters.

Extremely unlikely IMHO.  The justification will be that you can read the meter yourself and do the sums.  Similarly, you can send BG the readings as frequently as you like, which will presumably trigger a new statement each time.

How are you going to know whether  any other company is going to work with your meter, given that two haven’t so far?
All shall be well, and all shall be well, and all manner of things shall be well.

Pedant alert - it's could have, not could of.

There is a decent chance that a supplier like Octopus may simply be willing to swap out a non-adopted SMETS1 meter for a current model SMETS2, but if the current meter isn’t adopted I’m not convinced a change of supplier would change that.

On the other hand, the OP does say that Where as BG will not replace both Smart meters to be compatible with their systems although they are sending them data of usage to compile the monthly bill but not on their App or Website for me to monitor our usage.” - do we read that as meaning that the meter is actually sending readings, but simply that for some reason BG aren’t then populating that through to the more detailed stats which should be available? OP - you have double checked that you are opted in to half hourly readings, I take it?
