Benidorm for 2 ladies of a certain age!

Myself and my sister were thinking of going away for a week later in the year. We have been having an annual 'sisters' trip for the last few years but have decided to try to recapture our youth.
Its years since either of us went abroad, my last hols were all in Vegas and its probably 25 years since either of us went to Spain. So we have decided to do Benidorm for a week, whether it is ready for us or not!
But as ladies of a certain age we have to be realistic, its more flat shoes than towering heels this time. But, we do want to have a laugh so someone suggested the Old town is best as there is plenty of shop wandering to be done and plenty of bars to suit all at night.
Can anyone advise on a nice hotel within walking distance of the town/beach etc. Or give any other tips for that matter- think 'Help the aged' and be kind.
Ive been looking at the holiday sites and of course there are sales galore on but between choosing a hotel, looking at flights (need to go from the North west) and reading the trip advisor reviews I tempted to forget it and go to Llandudno!
It was so easy back in the 80s!

We went to Benidorm in late October. Our overwhelming impression is that it is rather run down and very much everywhere is on the race to the bottom - think stag / hen trips.
One place I do recommend is dinner / show at Benidorm Palace - an excellent evening at amazing value.0 -
Thank you Grumpy_chap.
Thank you for the recommendation, noted. I guess we had better get over there before it hits rock bottom.
Some friends went last year and said they didnt like it very much but they said they would go again but stay in the old town. Will have to do a bit more research I think.0 -
Can I ask why Benidorm ?There are other fine resorts in mainland Spain and the BalearicsOf course it all depends on what you are looking for.0

We just kept joking about having a 'husband free break with sunshine' and Benidorm just came up in conversation.
Years ago we had several family holidays in Majorca and Ibiza and just wanted somewhere different.
Back then we always had a car and travelled round the island but this time due to age and my sister having walking issues we want to do plenty of lounging by a pool and pottering round shops during the day but we also want somewhere with lively night life. Not clubs obviously (we admit when we are tired these days) but bars with entertainment (not that we will be dancing on tables) and a choice of places to eat and people watch.
Also due to sisters walking issues we need to find a hotel pretty central to things, preferably near a beach and somewhere not too hilly.
Any suggestions as to where else would be nice?

I can thoroughly recommend the 4 star RH Corona del Mar which is close to Poniente beach and the old town. Best rates we have found have been with TUI.0

If your looking to stay in the old town i can recommend hotel bristol stayed there this year good food and close to all the bars shops and restuarants .Benidorm is flat so you should'nt have trouble walking round. If you want to go to new town to see a tribute act or show a taxi would'nt be too expensive. Benidorm has something for every age group give it a go i'm sure you'll enjoy it.0
