Fog,fog and more bloomin' fog in Mehefinland.
When it is like this I can truly understand why people develop the need for SAD lamps! I'm not usually one of them but I'm starting to see the attraction after the last few days of gloom and drizzly rain.
Dipped out on the invite for the beef dinner with my friends , as it turned out a good move as the meat was as hard as leather by all accounts!! It was not a cheap joint either, so I don't know what went wrong. They had a houseful of family and I felt awkward to be an interloper. Got a call later telling me off!! I have some lovely friends.
A quiet day in all. Started planning in my mind how I want to alter some things in the bungalow. Lighting is top of my list as the fittings are certainly showing their age. Going to investigate LED too, as the light output is good ( and MSE cheap) and instant. The energy saving lamps I have now seem to take ages to 'warm up' before you get any decent light. May investigate the closing down Homebase to see what they have got - might get some bargains, although i would rather see the shop there.
Need to have a part of the roof looked at too ,as the verges are losing chunks of cement and there are at least 2 broken tiles which I have ahem! bodged. Had a cold caller have a quick look who gave me a very silly top of head price. I will be going out for proper quotations in the New year.
Must get something out of the freezer - lucky dip time!
Hugs and spoons as always- keep walking those poodles lol

Morning all and thanks for the start @Gers x
We will be making leftover pie today which we all agree is the best meal of the season. I have a catch up with BFF planned for tonight. It’s foggy here too but we will venture to the SM for supplies as have ILs coming on Sunday for lasagna. We also need to find a bottle bank/recycling bin as have created rather a lot of surplus. Other than that, it’s a quiet day of tidying up and TV.
Hope you all have a good day.CoxyCross-stitch WIP: Haberdashery Shop Fiver Friday challenge 2025 founding member 😊 Read 25 books in 2025 17/25 Currently reading The Ghost Fields by Elly Griffiths11 -

Oh, the weather outside is frightful,
But the fire is so delightful,
And since we've no place to go,
Let it snow, let it snow, let it snow.It doesn't show signs of stopping,
And I brought some corn for popping;
The lights are turned way down low,
Let it snow, let it snow, let it snow.† + ☆ * ☆ ☆ * ☆ + †
Morning1 Foggy and dull here too but I'm going out to look for a new throw [ the cats have co opted mine] and more oven trays. Nothing else doing today, computer games and pottering and maybe watching some stuff on catch up, like the pottery throw down etc...Look after yourself poodles! Which is now forever going to remind me of a Gorkys Zygotic Mynci song, Poodle rockin...

Hi everyone,
You might have missed the boat there Mehefin, our local homebase has already been decimated. All our lights are led, they are much cheaper to run but the bulbs aren't cheap. That seems to be the pattern with these things, our solar panels and heat pump were expensive to install but a lot cheaper to run , it will take us about seven years to work off the initial outlay.
We had a lovely couple of days at Chris and Crystal's and Laura, Brian and the children are off to Glasgow via the Wirral later. We'll take the decorations down when they've gone and have a general tidy. We're going up to Yorkshire on Sunday for New Year and Steve's sister is joining us there. I'm looking forward to it.
Today we'll be eating leftovers.
Have a good day.13 -
Morning all. Last night we had thick fog that had reduced to mist by this morning, now burned off and the sun has put in an appearance. Weird weather or what?
What did I do yesterday? Not a lot!Basically picking at bits and pieces of food from the fridge, watching some TV, knitting and napping. I actually find it quite stressful not doing anything and seem to lose track of the days, so today I'll be making a bit more of an effort. That will involve a walk out for more milk and coming up with a plan for using up food. I've already sliced and portioned up the beef joint ready for the freezer, there's a red cabbage and a baking apple waiting to be cooked, plus much veg to incorporate into meals. I foresee copious amounts of soup on the menu! Still have lots of picky bits left too. Believe it or not, the chocolates haven't been opened, nor have we had any posh ice cream or profiteroles - yet.
DS has managed to pick up a bug and is coughing for England; fortunately he's managed to get an emergency appointment at the doc's this morning (hastened I think by his AF diagnosis) so I hope it's a case of just anti-bs and not a trip to hospital. Heaven knows he's had enough of those this year. I think he's passed it on to me in that I have a sore throat although I'm not coughing and spluttering like he is nor do I feel ill. I've plenty of paracetamol in the cabinet plus honey for soothing drinks.
Hugs as ever where needed, have a good day be it busy or quiet and take care. XBe kind to others and to yourself too.11 -
