Hi all
Looking for recommendations for a Chromebook for a 10 year old. They use them at school for scratch which I assume he would be able to do at home.

Any suggestions on what he could use his Christmas money to buy?
Thanks

On a basic level a Chromebook is a Chromebook is a Chromebook. They only really vary between screen sizes, whether they are convertible or not and the underlying hardware.
Scratch online just needs any relatively modern internet browser and an internet connection.2 -
Thanks. As you might have noticed I have no clue on these things so wondered if there was anything in particular to look for and whether there was any top buys. If they are all much of a muchness then I will look at the lower priced options!Neil_Jones said:On a basic level a Chromebook is a Chromebook is a Chromebook. They only really vary between screen sizes, whether they are convertible or not and the underlying hardware.

I’d make sure it has a FHD screen and is reasonably robust. If possible get accidental damage insurance cover! No reliance should be placed on the above! Absolutely none, do you hear?1

Unless he really enjoys scratch and has expressed a desire for such a device (would have made a good present) - most 10year olds probably wouldn’t want to spend their Xmas money on something for schoolHan86 said:Hi all

Thanks, a friend also suggested this one, I wasn't too sure about the two parts to it but maybe that's an advantage 🤔Syman said:i use one of these for my day to day machine.

Yes it is him who has asked to buy a Chromebook!! We do have a laptop at home but he seems set on the idea of having his own chromebook. As in the original post I am not entirely sure what he wants it for, but as it's his money then I feel at the age of 10 he should be allowed to make choices of how he wants to spend it (both sets of grandparents give money rather than gifts to enable the children to buy a bigger item if they wish).LightFlare said:

I don't think he sees it as a school item 🤷0 -
That device is £250 today and was the same at Black Friday.Han86 said:

Thanks. Showed my son and he seems adamant he wants just one piece and doesn't like the idea of it being a tablet/detachable.Grumpy_chap said:
