Klarna

Hi,

I am having problems with Klarna.

I had a klarna card which stopped working. I was told I cannot make any purchases because I have another linked account with an outstading invoice with a Debt collection agency.

I also had 3 interest free purchases which I cleared 2 off recently.  They sent me an email previously with 20 email addresses (not fully shown) which I did not recognise.

I replied back to them I only hold 1 klarna account and my credit report shows the same account for interest free purchases.

I received the following reply today:

Thank you for staying connected. We have been working on your request to delink the Klarna account linked to your Klarna account. Our team has informed us that you have an another account with us with your same details and you have an invoice that was sent to debt collection, that is stoping you to make Pay later purchases using Klarna in this account.
Once the invoice sent to debt collection will not guaranteed to make pay later purchases with us. I kindly request you to use "Pay Now option for now to making purchases using Klarna.

I am not sure what they are doing. I have emailed back asking for more details.

If I had another account with missed payment in my name and address that would have shown on my credit report with red markers. I have checked my Experian, Equifax and Trans Union and everything seems to be okay.

Any advise much appreciated.

Thanks

There is a klarna thread here. Not the same situation as you but might be linked to fraud

Thanks I will read the thread. If it is fraud and someone managed to open an account with my details then the account should have been shown on my credit report.

I regularly check all reports and nothing showing there.

Even if they used my address as previous address during application Credit reference agency would have applied a linked address to my credit report.  Again all linked addresses are correct and I never received any letters whatsoever from a debt collection agency.

I think I should do a SAR request to Klarna.

    Thanks

This is the reply I received from Klarna

Thank you for your response. I completely understand that you're seeking to know the Klarna accounts linked to your Klarna account. However, due to security reasons, we are unable to reveal the email addresses of the Klarna accounts linked to your account. If you will be able to check the above emails, you will be able to check the email addresses that are linked to your Klarna account.

They linked 40 emails to my account and they want to go through.and check which one is mine.  They did not provide full email addresses either.

    I have requested SAR

    Thanks

The SAR is unlikely to get you the full email address if they suspect it is not connected to you. In which case the other account's cant be yours either.

I dont think it will.  I don't understand why they are saying the linked account is under my personal details. If it was it should have showed up on my credit report.

I will do SAR anyway. Thanks

That's there site for SAR but it looks they only provide information linked to the email address.  Really they should provide everything under my name and address.

    Think about this.
How many people have the same name etc.

Their accounts run under email address.

Under the regulations they can only provide information linked to your account. So if a fraudster opens a account, could be the same name, or address, It is not your account. Thus proving you with their details would be a breech of GDPR 🤷‍♀️

Okay.  They are not giving me any information and at the same claiming I have another acciunt with an outstanding debt.

    What should I do?

Should I just write back and say I don't have any debt with your organisation unless you can proof I have and provide me the details.

And leave it as is it.
