Good morning, thanks for starting Gers.
Don't know what the weather is doing, yesterday was grey and chilly. Not that I was out in it except to wave ds2 and family off.
We had a quiet day, I didn't feel very well. On the evening of Christmas Eve I suddenly developed a cold and cough, it was strange, it just came on.
I feel better today anyway.
Hope everyone had as good a day as they could. Reading yesterday's posts made me laugh at times, Redcross's poodles ( sorry, I know it was a mistake but a funny one!) and Rosyred's dh gargling with whisky! Talk about kill or cure!
I'm going to tidy up a bit today, no other plans really.
Thinking of our sad and poorly people, I know it's not a joyful time for everyone.
Take care folks.

Thanks Gers and Scarlet for the early posts
Hope everyone survived the day in whatever way they wished.Very quiet here, thankfully - the only drama being me knocking over the jug of glaze for the ham - managed to scoop some back with a fish slice! Had some lovely presents though which I’ll take a closer look at today.Next door neighbours popping for drinks and I might make the base for the fish pie for tomorrow’s visitors.Thick fog at the moment so won’t be going far other than that .
Happy Boxing Day

Morning again - getting out of my warm and cosy bed was tough, could be the very grey, wet and dank day outside. I think I'd rather prefer a snowy and crisp morning instead.Yesterday was calm and peaceful with moments of less peace. My Christmas food was really tasty so I enjoyed it enormously and it went well with the fizzy Crémant, no pudding was eaten. The highlights were some cracking TV shows and opening the many presents which had been waiting for over a week.I hope that eveyone survived and had a good time despite woes, fears and very young excited children. Hugs to our poorlies (loved poodles) and those who are sad, things will get better.

Morning folks and thanks GERS. It looks a bit gloomy out there. They keep saying it's milder but doesn't seem to be to me.
Yesterday, as expected, was chaotic, more so than the usual Christmas Day. Due mostly thanks to DD working the night before and needing a few hours sleep when she got home. Consequently everything was later kicking off and we finally sat down to Christmas dinner about 6.00 pm!! DD's ex appeared mid afternoon to deliver the girls presents and ended up staying till 11.30 pm when both of us left! I was straight into bed and straight to sleep but sadly I still had my silly o'clock wakening.
Today might be slightly less fraught - or it might not! It seems to have turned into a tradition that Boxing Day is now Italiafest Day. DS and his DP are joining us and there will be two new boyfriends to meet! Eldest DGD has been seeing a new lad from Uni for a couple of months now and he is hoping to get over to meet us all. And the second boyfriend to meet is middle DGDs beau. How did that happen she's still a baby! Well actually she's now 16 but still seems too young to be having a serious bf. DD has met him a few times and says he seems a nice lad so that's all we can ask I suppose.
As always my contribution to the late lunch will be my Signature bake!! So next job I must get the Ragu on the go.. I am making a huge one and my seldom used enormous Lasagne dish is out in readiness.
Have as good a day as you can folks and as always ((HUGS)) for our poorlies, sad or lonely. Take care all, stay safe xx

Good morning, dull and grey at the moment. Yesterday was glorious sunshine, just like a spring day.
When we did the big shop last week DH said how about beef for Christmas day? Although I'd already cooked lamb, so beef it was. My goodness it was tough as old boots. Lots of googling today for ways to use it up.
We had a lovely phone call with our dgds, although they were a tad excited. They were having pork for dinner although the youngest insisted on calling it pig, which of course it is, no vegetarian there. She also got her first Scalextric set I think she's going to be a mechanic when she's older.
Happy Boxing Day to all, and hugs for those who need them.

Good morning all
Thank you for the start @Gers
Yesterday wasn't too cold but it felt damp so I only had a short walk. Might try a longer one today. Got some knitting to get on with.
Take care

Morning all. I was up ridiculously early this morning when it was still dark so I couldn't tell what the weather was doing. Mr Weatherman says it will be around 10 or 11 deg with light cloud and light winds, not that it matters as I'm not going anywhere. When I looked out early doors I saw our neighbourhood fox trotting down the street, probably on his/her way home.
DS and I had a very peaceful and lazy Xmas day. It was basically an eat, drink and be merry kind of day peppered with lots of naps - no wonder I was up early! Today will probably be much the same with dinner being replaced by a picky tea. Two of my neighbours popped round, one with a prezzie for me for taking in her parcels (a lovely toiletries gift set) and the other to ask DS if he could move his car as he needed some space to bump start his down the hill. They seemed to be out there a long time, no doubt man-talk about cars!
I hope everyone enjoyed/survived the day without any mishaps (only 364 days to go to the next one). Take care and hugs for the poorlies (aka poodles). X
Be kind to others and to yourself too.12 -
Morning all from foggy Mehefinland
@YorksLass I misread that to say 'saw neighbours foxtrotting down the road'. Visions of a lavish party and posh frocks lol.
An interesting day yesterday, catching up with old friends for lunch. They had come to us for the last 27 years on Christmas Day after their oven went phut one year, and a tradition was born. I was so glad to have their company and we had lots of laughs reminiscing .
After horse duty at tea time i called in on my other friends with a few presents. They are the ones who 'look after' me and keep plying me with red wine of an evening. They won't let me contribute so I have to find other ways. Repurposed a wicker hamper and filled it with goodies, local honey and 2 dippers, a bottle of Sheepdog, and one of Mount Gay and other bits and bobs. Mrs had taken a tumble down the stairs on Xmas Eve ( she admits to being tipsy!) and had a swollen ankle. She was lucky to miss the newel post with her head as she came down backwards. Pretty bruised I suspect, so feeling a bit sorry for herself last night, so my little parcel brightened her up.
Phone call from DS who had a house full- don't think he intentionally was rubbing salt in the wound, but I did find it a bit hurtful. At least I have some good friends.
Today is back on the hamster wheel (same as every other day really) but may be going to see my young friend later, but not if this fog doesn't lift.
Hope everyone is recovering from the excesses of yesterday, and not too many thick heads!
Hugs and spoons as always.

On the Feast of Stephen
When the snow lay round about
Deep and crisp and even
Brightly shone the moon that night
Though the frost was cruel

Morning! Not much to report, yesterday was eating, watching films and tv and getting to grips with the new cooker [ like a jet engine is the conclusion] It's like the bionic cooker compared to my original one, bigger, faster [ much faster!] stronger...Today it's leftovers for breakfast unless I break out the pannetone and over to OHs mums for picky tea. I'lll take some beef with me, my eyes were much bigger than my belly when I ordered it, I'll be getting a much smaller piece next year..which reminds me, try polpette remmie. Grind the meat up, mix with about equal parts mash, add parmesan, chopped parsley [fresh] , salt, pepper and crushed or chopped garlic, mix, shape into small chunky patties, dip in flour, fry. I guarantee you you'll eat the lot in one go [ good hot or cold] .Wishing the foxtrotting poodles a good day and all others too...Non me fac calcitrare tuum culi11 -
