Hello thank you but I'm wondering if somebody could help me out and take a look at my electric statement please there's only me  in the one bedroom flat  TV didn't come on until after six o'clock I don't turn the lights on until 6 so I'm sitting here sometimes in the dark or I'm up tablet or my phone so I'm not really using much electric in my house and I'm not even using my cooker so where the hell is all my electric keep them going too and no one understand how come my peak time keeps unchanging

It would be nice if someone could kindly explain all this in detail please because I don't have a clue and I struggle with learning disabilities so I struggle to read really bad and make things to make sense when I get other people to read these letters they say it's not right them charging me way too much so I need help big time please and how to find a cheaper company because when I'm looking and compared.com it keeps saying my electric company is the cheapest so I don't know what to do I'm stuck

    @help2020

More details of your heating system please ?

Is your all electric panel heaters by any chance ?  or - heaven forbid -  a  wet system with a great big tank ?
Never pay on an estimated bill. Always read and understand your bill

I am with Octopus and they are brilliant, changing to a different supplier won't make any difference if there is something wrong with the meter or the way the supply is set up to the flat, or you are not using the dual tarrif correctly.
As stated by Robin9 you have a night rate which is  much cheaper, but your main consumption is day time where you are paying a premium rate, do you have storage heaters that you are having on during the day instead of during the low rate?

Your bill for July has estimates on it.you not have a smart meter by the looks of it
Ideally you ought to provide readings to Octopus every month.

Also you should obfuscate your account number on your screen shots.
You could also do a read now for each register and let us see.

It says Data Collector reading which implies that the OP has a smart meter.  The estimates are at the start of the three-monthly periods when the Ofgem price cap changes, so they're to be expected.
There shouldn't be any need for the OP to send readings every month although it's a good idea to send them when the rates change.

I don’t read it as that, why estimate at price change, In fact why estimate if smart. I read it as a meter reader , rare as that is.

They need to have a reading at the changeover date so that they can calculate the bill.
  • To summarise some questions for thr OP

Hoe is your home heated?  A you let us have the make and model of any electric heating you are using?

how is your hot water heated?

what sort of shower do you have - is it a plastic box attached to the wall, or does the shower just work straight through your bath taps?

how much use do you make of electricity overnight - for example do you run your washing machine then, or a dishwasher?

Can you read your meter now and post the readings for each day, and night registers.

Finally - can you confirm which register the meter shows as “live” at the time you post your reply - it will most likely say either “1” or “2”

    • Is the meter inside your flat, or is it outside (e.g. meter cupboard or meter room?)
    • Does the top of the meter show terms such as Cellular, HAN, WAN etc?
