Hi everyone
I haven't posted for ages, I know. There's been a lot going on recently. I was going to start a new diary, but I really have to stop doing that - so I've renamed this one.
So what has been happening? Back in May I had to do a very late night/early morning "mum run". I woke up at 2am, checked the cameras to see if she had gone to bed, and she was lying on the floor, where she had been since 10.45pm the night before. She had fallen and broken her hip. Queue a mad rush down there and calling the ambulance, She was in hospital for 2 weeks and then they discharged her straight into a care home, at mine and my sister's request. We found her a nice care home and she seems content there, even if she doesn't know who we are anymore (she knows she "knows" us, but doesn't know we're her daughters). The care home fees are crazy, so her savings are coming down fast. We have just found some buyers for her flat, and we're going through the process of that now, so that will prolong how long we can pay for the fees privately. Took as ages to clear her flat out - she had so much stuff.
Now that she's in the care home, the running around has lessened, which is a positive, and we know she is safe and being properly looked after. It also helps with the time I have to earn money.
The debt that I was clearing back in January/February still exists, but is down to £300 now, so I definitely want to get that cleared by the end of October. I'm then giving myself 2 years to clear the rest of my debts, so by the end of 2027. That's a lot more realistic than by the end of 2025 anyway.
A few old debts have naturally finished and been paid off, which is really good. It's given us some more wiggle room with our finances. Good job too as reselling hasn't been too great recently, so I really need to get on top of it and start listing more consistantly.
My niece is at university now, luckily only around 45 minutes away, so my sister and I are visiting her tomorrow to take her out for a Sunday roast.
Hope everyone enjoys the rest of your weekends.

Nice to hear from you again. Sorry to hear about your Mum. Well done on the debt busting!"Good financial planning is about not spending money on things that add no value to your life in order to have more money for the things that do". Eoin McGee1

Morning
Sunday wasn't very good, my niece has got a stinking cold and the pub we went to was rubbish. Was still good to see her though. She's back home for half term soon, so that'll be nice. I'm picking her up a week Friday as she finishes at 12, so she can be home when her parents get back from work.
My oxygen debt is down to £150. I paid off £100 on Sunday and £50 today. I'm trying to put £30 aside from my ebay and Vinted money each day, so 5 days to go and it'll be clear.
Not a great day sales wise yesterday - £44.32 on ebay and £6 on Vinted. Need to get listing more, it just seems other things get in the way all the time.
I'm also trying to do £5 a day on Prolific, each weekday. I'll then take the money out at the weekend and pay it straight off a debt. Seeing as it goes through to my PayPal, I'm going to use it to clear my PayPal Credit. There's £390 on there currently, so I think it'll take me 3-4 months to clear. I did £6.40 worth of surveys yesterday, both of which have been approved.
We're getting a new sofa tomorrow. I know, I know - not very good when I'm banging on about being in debt. We've had my OH's mother's sofas since we moved in here and I hated them. They did us for a while, but I wanted our own sofa. We've got a £100 payment that has just stopped, and my OH got the sofa on interest free credit, so that £100 will pay for it (it's actually a bit less). We sold the other sofas and gave his mum the money, and then sold a foot stool that was ours for £30. So at the moment we're sitting on garden furniture. Will be so nice to curl up on our own sofa tomorrow evening.

Morning
Currently waiting for the new sofa to arrive. Could apparently be anytime from 7.20am this morning.
Not a good day for sales yesterday at all, nothing on eBay and £9 on Vinted. I did spend most of yesterday cleaning the living room and getting it ready for today. Can't carry on like this though - need some sales.
I opened a Zopa bank account so that I could get a free £10, so that helped towards my £30 towards the oxygen debt today. I also did £7.12 worth of surveys on Prolific.
Going to be a cranky day as I'm trying to cut back on drinking coke. I've recently been diagnosed with CFRD (Cystic Fibrosis Related Diabetes) after being borderline for over a decade. I knew it would happen one day. I thought the silver lining of that would be I finally get free prescriptions - but nope!! I don't because I don't need to take any medication for it yet. I had an eye screening last week and I'm in stage 1 of Diabetic Retionopathy. So I need to try and manage it and have less sugar. Suppose it will save me money in the long run.

Sorry to hear that Emzilla x2

Thank you. It's not as bad as it sounds. I've been borderline diabetic for well over a decade and this doesn't feel too much different. Let's put it this way - I've been through worse.comfyshoes20 said:Sorry to hear that Emzilla x

Morning
Currently sitting on the new sofa and loving it. It's so comfy and much better than the ones we had.
Had a couple of eBay sales yesterday - £59.70 and £17 on Vinted. Paid another £50 off the oxygen this morning - £100 to go. Also did £5.85 on Prolific.
Out to lunch with a friend today (ex work colleague). Apart from that, just need to get listing. I only had 1 can of coke yesterday (kept it going throughout the day, just having sips every so often), but my head is paying for it. Woke up with a banging headache today and yesterday.

Yeah I can believe that. Take care ♥️Emzilla said:
