Well done on the sales and surveys!"Good financial planning is about not spending money on things that add no value to your life in order to have more money for the things that do". Eoin McGee1

Hi everyone
I haven't posted for ages, I know. There's been a lot going on recently. I was going to start a new diary, but I really have to stop doing that - so I've renamed this one.
So what has been happening? Back in May I had to do a very late night/early morning "mum run". I woke up at 2am, checked the cameras to see if she had gone to bed, and she was lying on the floor, where she had been since 10.45pm the night before. She had fallen and broken her hip. Queue a mad rush down there and calling the ambulance, She was in hospital for 2 weeks and then they discharged her straight into a care home, at mine and my sister's request. We found her a nice care home and she seems content there, even if she doesn't know who we are anymore (she knows she "knows" us, but doesn't know we're her daughters). The care home fees are crazy, so her savings are coming down fast. We have just found some buyers for her flat, and we're going through the process of that now, so that will prolong how long we can pay for the fees privately. Took as ages to clear her flat out - she had so much stuff.
Now that she's in the care home, the running around has lessened, which is a positive, and we know she is safe and being properly looked after. It also helps with the time I have to earn money.
The debt that I was clearing back in January/February still exists, but is down to £300 now, so I definitely want to get that cleared by the end of October. I'm then giving myself 2 years to clear the rest of my debts, so by the end of 2027. That's a lot more realistic than by the end of 2025 anyway.
A few old debts have naturally finished and been paid off, which is really good. It's given us some more wiggle room with our finances. Good job too as reselling hasn't been too great recently, so I really need to get on top of it and start listing more consistantly.
My niece is at university now, luckily only around 45 minutes away, so my sister and I are visiting her tomorrow to take her out for a Sunday roast.
Hope everyone enjoys the rest of your weekends.
