Suggest a printer

This year I was given a number of Amazon vouchers and I’d like to buy a printer. Here is my details.

i work excessively with an iPad and iPhone it’s pretty rare that I actually need to print. Friends and family have let me use their printers but that’s not a great solution.

is appreciate your suggestion and why that recommendation

How much printing are you wanting to do and how often?
If its once in a blue moon and it will be mostly black and white, a mono laser is a no brainer.

Your local library will probably do colour printing if the amount of colour printing you will do is next to non-existent and this may actually work out cheaper.

A couple of experiences to share:
    1) If you get an inkjet printer and don't use it often, the ink dries out and you need one or more new cartridges. I am not aware of any way of refreshing the cartridges, but I never looked. I don't know how often you need to use it for the ink not to dry out. We seem to be ok using mum's printer once every 1 or 2 months.
    2) I know I just said inkject cartridges can dry out, but talking about HP inkjet printers, some of the models know whether a replacement cartridge is the kind you get when you buy the printer or a 'full' replacement. My mum's printer had said for a few weeks the cartridge was running out so I bought replacements from Amazon (without checking the seller's reviews, yes I know now). Didn't use the replacements for a few months but when we did, the printer rejected the cartridges because they were the type of cartridge that goes in a new printer. The seller no longer sold on Amazon and couldn't get the money back. Waste of over £100.

Echo the post on mono laser printer.
We have a colour one that got on offer for £70 4 years ago. Still on original toner, prints 1st time every time, less than 250 pages printed. Wireless, so is sat in cupboard all the time, just plug & go when required.

Just make sure you check size & weight. 👍

Went through no end of inkjets, as they just dry out & cost a fortune to replace.

Something like this, would be good

If you rarely print then the nozzles are going get clogged up and/or the cartridges dry up.
What sort of things do you print -Document, photos, black-and-white, colour? And how often do you need to do it?

I don’t like the compatible cartridges (had too many mishaps) and for most printers it’s not the cost of the printer. It’s the cost of the ink that is silly money so potentially a false economy as opposed to getting things printed somewhere else.

So more information about your usage would be helpful.

We also have a brother mono laser, absolute no brainer, if you're happy with black and white, one of these is where to go.
  • A mono printer is the best option for you, just make sure it supports air-print(or whatever apple call it)

You can get decent HP or Epson wireless printers. But it's all about how much printing you will be doing.

I've had a Brother mono laser for years which has been trouble-free for  occasional use, plus the drum and toner can be purchased from compatible suppliers so save a few ££s
