new TV - around 77 inch

Hey all, I'm looking for a new TV, I have a flexible budget and was thinking of the LG G3?

I'm open to anything from 55" but 77 is my current tv so any advise or deals?

No recommendations apart from don't buy from anywhere apart from John Lewis or richer sounds. With them you get 5 or 6 years warranty.

Buy it from Currys and good luck getting anything sorted after the sale.

Having used both I prefer richer sounds

Here's an absolute bargain, a half price 77 inch 8k OLED TV.

Costco have some decent prices and stuff, plus they are better than John Lewis in the no quibble return. My neighbour bought a TV from there a while back, and took it back next day for "something better" and they swapped it no issues.

As for TV itself. in large TV's you're always best to buy South Korean, i.e Samsung or LG  if you're not ready for a projector setup.

What is the room like it is going to be in? Is it very bright and  the TV going to be facing into direct sunlight?

Hopefully not and in which case a good OLED is currently the best option. I would make sure the TV supports both HDR10+ and Dolby Vision so that you get both capabilities across the sources.

You then need to consider connectivity. What devices do you need to connect, do you need passthrough for a soundbar etc.

When it comes to OLED screens, pretty much all use the same source of manufacture so no real difference there.

There are various brands that are worth considering and certainly not limited to South Korean. Philips, Sony, Hisense, LG just for a start.

Can you wait a few months?

G3 was their 2023 model, G4 was this years with a fair amount of improvements. New TVs are always announced at CES in January and typically start being released around March.

Unsurprisingly as you get closer to the G5 being launched prior models will go down in price. According to the "leaks" the G5 will be another decent step forward so may result in deeper discounts -v- say the G2->G3 which were fairly modest changes.
