MVL discount options being withdrawn from private sellers Jan 2025

It’s being reported that from 20th Jan the discount option for MVLs when a customer buys more than one item is being withdrawn from private sellers. They will remain for business sellers.
As soon as I can find a proper link I’ll post it.
There does seem to be a definite move to completely differentiate business and private sellers and is a step that I’m sure a lot of business sellers will approve of it. It isn’t usual for private sellers to be using MVLs anyway, but I know of a few and I suspect there will be some rumblings.

I use it quite a bit on my private account.
It's basically an easy way of giving a postage or volume discount.
Not sure I'll miss it or complain about it too much as it doesn't seem to do much to generate multiple sales.
If the best-offer function still remains buyers can use that if they want 3 or 4 of the same item.
To be honest, more of them tend to do that now than those who use mvl0 -

I can understand removing MVL’s for private sellers, as a very occasional private seller it’s not something I have ever used and can’t see that I ever would.
I do hope they don’t remove listing as new for private sellers, I have had occasions where I have sold unwanted gifts, or sold something I later realised was a bad purchase for myself, so I would see removing that as very detrimental.Over the years it has felt like eBay don’t really want private sellers, I do understand business sellers make them more money, but as I now find it more and more difficult to sell unwanted items, and eBay has been flooded with cheap overseas tat, I buy less and less, especially clothing, I always had the attitude that if I bought an item that didn’t fit / wasn’t suitable I could just resell it, but as that has become harder, I now buy a lot less clothing on there.1 -

Apparently sellers who have used MVL discounts in the last 6 months are receiving messages from ebay about it, so for most private sellers this won't even make a difference at all.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the eBay, Auctions, Car Boot & Jumble Sales, Boost Your Income, Praise, Vents & Warnings, Overseas Holidays & Travel Planning , UK Holidays, Days Out & Entertainments boards.
