Euro Car Park Fine Going to Court - Can I Dispute It?

Hi everyone,

I’ve just received an N180 form for a parking fine of £270, and I’m feeling really stressed about it. I’m hoping someone here can offer some advice.

Here’s the situation: I accidentally entered the wrong location code when extending my parking via the app. I have evidence that I paid for both the initial parking ticket and the extension, so I wasn’t trying to avoid paying at all. It was just a simple human error.

Additionally, I have dyslexia and I have an assessment to support this. It’s something that can sometimes affect reading map etc .

At this point, I’m torn between paying the £270 and defending myself in court. I’m just not sure if it’s worth going to court over a mistake that was made in good faith. The claimant is demanding the full amount, and I don’t know how to proceed.

Has anyone been in a similar situation? Any advice on what I should do next? Should I go ahead with the court process or is there a way to negotiate or settle this before it gets to court? I’m just really looking for some guidance.

Everybody receiving the claim are disputing them , but the claim form is an N1SDT form

    No negotiation

I doubt that it's an N180, unless you have already submitted a previous defence   ?

This thread below should assist you

If you've received an N180 DQ, then you have already defended the claim. Show us the claim form with the Particulars of Claim (PoC) and also what you put in as your defence. Did you use the MCOL webform to submit your defence?

As this is now a defended claim, you are better off seeing it through because, even your defence is unsuccessful, any judgment is likely to be for less than the original claim amount which includes fake debt recovery fees that most judges do not allow.

As the Claimant is ECP and they use DCB Legal as their bulk litigator, as long as the claim is defended, the probability of them discontinuing before they have to pay the trial fee is close to 100%.

So, in answer to your questions, continue with the process as advised in the Newbies/FAQ thread and it is highly likely that this will end with a discontinuation. Please answer the questions asked about the PoC and the defence you submitted.

Yes we have HUNDREDS of threads like yours, all cheerfully defended. These are a cinch to defend and nobody here pays a penny. No offers. No money is paid.

But: if you have form N180 you have already defended. So, if you are at DQ stage now, show us your defence that you submitted please.
