Another £15.96 added; I managed to hurtle to L!dls after picking up some compost this morning & pick up the few little bits we needed. So essentially we now have £88 per week for the rest of the month, feeding 4+ adults with an assortment of dietary necessities. A couple of years ago that would have seemed like plenty... but hey, it'll do!Angie - GC Aug25: £207.73/£550 : 2025 Fashion on the Ration Challenge: 26/68: (Money's just a substitute for time & talent...)10

Baking cupboard tidied today.it was a right jumble.Decanted a lot of stuff into newly bought replicas.always a bit of room in top of gravy and custard powder containers.I bought flour and caster sugar in the panic run up to Christmas when it appears that I already had plenty! I found 3 half open free from pasta packs as well.No food items thrown so that's good.Hopefully will have time to do a batch cake cook soon so that I can have sweet treats to pull from freezer.

Afternoon Everyone,
Just returned from food shopping two spends to declare £8.35 @Aldi on seasonings and a couple of sauces we like. Also spent £45.56 @tesco over £10 went on toilet roll and 2kg of chicken thighs . I also brought some wholemeal flour and buttermilk in readiness to try and make a loaf of sourdough. Never made it before, any tips are welcome 😊.
New totals £290.67 / £500 feeling a bit more optimistic about our budget hopefully we can save some money to make an extra payment towards our energy bill. This cold weather is costing alot to keep warm 😒.
On a separate note, still zero food waste, and I've just put a couple things l know we won't use in my shopping bag to donate the next time l go shopping.
@goldfinches you're walk, talk, group you bake for sounds like a wonderful idea.
Have a good day

Had to nip into town so purchased herbs and spices from zero waste shop £1.51, got a big bag of veggies at ship in town £4 (4 large garlic bulbs, bowls of peppers, avocados and tomatoes) and £4.09 in Waitrose. That makes my GC spend £54.74 for the first 2 weeks of the month. That's £102 under budget

Olives, flatbreads and houmous bought for the fridge at work (I also chopped up carrots and cucumber to go with it). That did two lunches with a bit of extra salad from the canteen - not as cheap as taking sandwiches in, but cheaper than buying lunch each day, and I still have some olives and houmous left. I also had a pain au chocolat for breakfast on Friday.
Made curry yesterday (carrots, courgette, beetroot, yellow pepper, chillies, garam masala, garlic and half a stock cube and a bit of black pepper) and that has also done two meals, with one last portion (without rice) in the freezer now.
Actual grocery shopping in the last few days has included tomato puree, wine, milk, red onion, pasta, mayonnaise, tinned tomatoes, tinned mackerel peanut butter, bread and salad potatoes. I'm almost out of stock cubes and am out of rice and tins of things like chickpeas and coconut milk, but none of its urgent at present.
£85.30 spent so far this year.

Declutter 7 things (net) in 2025. Done, now trying to keep it even (9 over at present).8 -
Just popping by to claim a NSD due to being very firm with myself about contriving lunch and dinner from the assorted leftovers hanging around in the fridge and larder.
I've been aided by the Mr T's branch just up the road having closed for building work so it's now a much longer walk to the nearest shop and I can't just pop out for whatever I fancy nearly so easily. I wonder if they'd consider remaining closed to save me money?
@carboot_karaoke - having a regular weekly visit to something interesting with a group of friends has really made me appreciate my local area, well worth doing.
