Quantaqa said:I have got my food plans done for the next two weeks, mostly using bits we already have, or bought in over the weekend.
This week:
Mon/Tues - Tuna Crunch
Wed/Thurs - Chill con carne with rice
Friday - Beans on toast with cheese
Saturday - Quesadillas using the HM Tortillas recipe
Sunday - HM Steak pie with roast potatoes and veg
Lunches this week - Stovies. When these are used up it'll be sandwiches.
I have a loaf going in the breadmaker today. I am another one hoping to make more of my own bread/bread products this year. I am just using Lidl bread flour but I have ordered for Skipton Mill before and found there flour to be fab. I might do a wee order next month from there.
@PipneyJane, I hope you found the on offer tomatoes in your local Lidl.
Sadly, @Quantaqa the tomatoes were on offer, but at a higher price, not the £1.49 you scored:
Fortunately, we’re not desperate for tomatoes - we’ve still got a dozen cans from the last time I stocked up.

Had to go shopping today- £21.42 spent but that is a weeks dinners, lunch food, fruit and milk plus nappies x2 for home and nursery so think that's OK just about. Will have to be careful the rest of the month to stick to the budget though; at 24.57/80 and there's a lot of month left2025 in 2025- 2027/2025

Hi everyone newbie here, I know I'm a week in and just starting this but not doing a full shop this month. Running down the freezer and cupboards. Done an inventory earlier today, filled 4 pages of my notebook.
Have enough carbs to last the month, then some.
Might have enough meat, will see how it goes, I the freezer I have gammon steaks, minced beef, chicken and some smoked haddock that i dont really know what to do with its been in there for well over a year but is all sealed and looks edible.
Only hoping to spend on veg once the frozen veg is run down, Bread, milk, butter and eggs.
Setting myself a budget of £50 for the rest of the month. Starting today £4.14 on milk, butter and toothpaste. £45.86 left.

Hi folks. I’m glad the Lidl deals are helping others. I have two spends to declare from Monday afternoon.
£5.99 at M & S for clementines, bananas, YS potato and onion tortilla, and some milk.
£5.33 at the Middle Eastern store for black peppercorns and tea leaves. I need to find another bulk black pepper supplier. This store doesn’t have the big bags anymore so we had to get two small ones for more than I’d like.
£65.65 / £300.00 spent. £234.35 remaining.
£54.53 to last me through January 14th as I’m allocating £60/week. £30 of bulk funds left
We’re out of parsley and berries. I may ask Mr. Jings to get those on his way home from a bike ride tomorrow but… he always just buys whatever is in front of him and doesn’t pay attention. Or buys the most expensive item. 😐😑 I’ll try holding off until I can go Friday.

So far managed 7 NSDs out of 8 so am really pleased with myself as I've always failed at this challenge over the years. In fact I think I've only succeeded once in 17 years!
I'm on the January Pantry Challenge and have found it great to use things in the pantry rather than go buy to fill the gaps in. Yesterday was flatbreads made from just yoghurt and flour in equal parts which was delicious. 200g of each makes 4 large flatbreads but we just trialled it with 50g of each and it made two smaller ones. We're going to make them again tomorrow to go with a chicken korma to feed the family.
Potted cheese was another new thing on us which was great when the soft cheese ran out for our crackers. Equal parts wensleydale and butter blended together was amazing and being HM had the beauty of allowing you to just making a tiny quantity to cover a few crackers rather than a whole pot which is too tempting.
Tomorrow I will have to have a shop as we've a few essentials we need but I think we can bring it in at just over £19 for the week which is amazing.
Making a HM Lemon rice pudding for a warming supper later which costs pence and last night DH made a huge Seed cake using Delia's recipe which will keep us going for days for morning coffee.
Off to look at the recipe collection for further inspiration.AUGUST GROCERY CHALLENGE £115.93/ £250
