Quantaqa said:Thanks for the info re Lidl XXL offers @JingsMyBucket. I like to stock up on a few bits when they do this. Got a bag of the xxl frozen rasps, would have got two but only one left. Will try again before the offer is up to get another bag.
I'm not sure if this is across all stores but our local Lidl has a 6 pack of Naploina chopped tomatoes on at £1.69 today. Great price. Use by dates into 2026. We bought 2 six packs for the pantry.
Thanks for the heads-up on the tomatoes @Quantaqa. I hadn’t noticed. Will now pop into L!dl on my way to choir tonight, to see if I can get this offer.
I have several spends to declare from Saturday: £17.29 spent in L!dl (YS Pizza £3, free cake 75p, 1L sunflower oil 2x£1.69, 1L lactose free skimmed milk 2x99p, air-dried ham £1.89, cream cheese 2x85p, mayo 99p, bagels 75p, Gold coffee £2.35, 1.5kg butternut squash £1.22); £5.06 on loose veg in Sainsbug's; and £22.25 in MrT’s. We only buy a few things now in our local MrT’s - it’s such a pain to visit - so stocked up on 1.5L quadruple strength squash (4x£2.25) and 500g bulgar wheat (6x£2), both of which had promo-Clubcard-point offers. We also bought Red onion bagels at £1.25 (Clubcard price). 28p of shrapnel collected that has gone to the Money Box.The above brings our total spend to £91/£160 leaving £69 for the rest of the month.
Meal plans for the next few days:
All breakfasts are cereal and all lunches are leftovers.
Today pasta bake, enhanced with some fried cooking bacon and a tin of sweetcorn
Tuesday Chickpea, chorizo and spinach stew (also involves potatoes and onions)
Wednesday Carrot & Cashew Nut Roast
Thursday ??

Good morning,
I have a physio appointment this morning which is when I usually go shopping so I may go to Lidl on the way home and see what bits I can get from there. My son likes the chocolate cookies from their bakery section and I can go to Asda for anything they don't have tomorrow after I've dropped my son off for his exam.
I have/had some eggs that go out of date on the 10th (I know about the float test but didn't want to keep them forever, lol) so I did some baking yesterday. Without buying anything I had enough ingredients in to make lasagne for our dinner so 2 portions eaten and 3 portions went in the freezer. I also made fairy cakes and some mocha squares (chocolate oat base and coffee fudge topping) so the cake tins here are full just now. I have a couple of eggs left but I'll eat them on toast before the use by date.10 -

I have got my food plans done for the next two weeks, mostly using bits we already have, or bought in over the weekend.
This week:
Mon/Tues - Tuna Crunch
Wed/Thurs - Chill con carne with rice
Friday - Beans on toast with cheese
Saturday - Quesadillas using the HM Tortillas recipe
Sunday - HM Steak pie with roast potatoes and veg
Lunches this week - Stovies. When these are used up it'll be sandwiches.
I have a loaf going in the breadmaker today. I am another one hoping to make more of my own bread/bread products this year. I am just using Lidl bread flour but I have ordered for Skipton Mill before and found there flour to be fab. I might do a wee order next month from there.
@PipneyJane, I hope you found the on offer tomatoes in your local Lidl.

DH went out to post a parcel today and amazingly he didn't pop into the shops for cake or biscuits, so still doing well. Tonight I'll be making a savoury rice to use up the last of the home grown yellow peppers and there are still a lot of Xmas cakes and biscuits in the house.GC Feb 25 - £225.54/£250 Mar £218.63/£24011

Only spend today will be some Milk. I have changed to get deliveries from my local dairy and they don't start until this Friday.
I I'm feeling like it tonight I want to do a bit of baking to ue as snacks for work - and home - for the next few days. Probably some cookies or brownies and then maybe a fruit loaf or similar. I've not been sleeping great, I keep waking up in the small hours and can't get back to sleep so if I'm too shattered when I get home form work the baking will need to wait until the weekend.Frugal Living challenge 2025

Hello, could i join you all please. My maternity leave is coming to an end and im staying home with my baby! I posted on here before we made the decision but now i need to get back to basics.
Aiming for £250 for the month.
We do have plenty of meat and fish in the freezer so I am hoping that we can maybe do Jan and Feb for slightly cheaper. I did spend far more than I had hoped to on last weeks groceries but I did some bulk cooking and we now have beef stew and lasagne in the freezer too. Baby is nearly a toddler but doesn't eat much at all.Jan GC £96.26/£250.10 -
Hi Elsiepac
I would like to rejoin this challenge. As last year I had a lot of ill health and took early retirement ans am living of aprevious employer’s pension. This challenge will help me keep to my budget.I am clearing food from my fridge freezer and my store cupboards. So Jan’s target is low at £50.00, so far I’ve spent nothing on groceries.
