  • But SS it has taken you years - not being rude, but you are just at the end rather then the beginning? you had your lightbulb moment in 2005 right?

so you certainly shouldn't feel guilty, just please don't leave when you are debt free cos I shall miss you!
    Nevertheless she persisted.

Doesn't matter how long it takes, what matters is we're on this journey together. xx Ya big daft sod.:kisses3:

You'll be surprised how many times I'm called a daft sod!

I know hun. But there are people who it will take years for to be debt free and there is me fretting (sp) over a month or two difference!

I'm just tired and emotional! :o :rotfl:

But it has taken you years! and at your age that probably seems longer than at mine...

I'm just the same though - not paying off as much as you a month but totally obsessed by trying to drag the date forward a month or two. at this stage when you can almost taste it seems even more agonising in some ways.

    we all luv ya though.

    Does anyone ever feel guilty?

    No.
I'm always banging on and moaning that I want to be debt free as soon as and get an @rse on if I can't make £2,000 of payments a month or whatever, but I never stand back and think how other people are affected and that I might actually be in an enviable position.

You might be - but guilt isn't going to change that. There are always people better off than you and worse off. Sometimes people are both better off and worse off at the same time. It depends what you measure.
I appreciate we are all our own people and everyones circumstances are different. But I feel bad at times when you read how people struggle all the time and there is me who has it easy! :undecided

But not as easy as other people.

  • SS, this must be the first time I've posted on your thread ... even though I've been lurking about your diaries for many a year! anyways, just wanted to say DON'T BE SO BLOODY STUPID! You've done amazingly well - look how far you've come, how much you've paid off ... and in a few short months you'll be debt free - amazing! OK, so you may not have it as hard as other people on here, but that doesn't make your journey any less impressive or worthwhile. Having said that, I do understand the feeling guilty thing - and I've way more reason to than you - I've become debt free (almost) just because a very kind relative left me a lot of money. No hardship at all!
So, pick yourself up, stop thinking like an idiot (if that's possible?!) and carry on that mission. I, for one, can't wait to see the post that says you're debt free.

    Its not about offending you!
    Does anyone ever feel guilty?

A little bit. Its more, oh *uck, I don't have anywhere near those problems.
I'm always banging on and moaning that I want to be debt free as soon as and get an @rse on if I can't make £2,000 of payments a month or whatever, but I never stand back and think how other people are affected and that I might actually be in an enviable position.

Well, I don't bang on and moan the way you do!!! :rotfl: :rotfl: When you get the really dark moods, you post. I don't, thats the only difference. And you *do* stand back and realise that you don't have it so bad - this is what you're doing right now! And I've seen many compassionate posts of yours - and *you* are the one who wrote the standard for the soa, don't you remember???? That was *you*, not someone else!
I appreciate we are all our own people and everyones circumstances are different. But I feel bad at times when you read how people struggle all the time and there is me who has it easy! :undecided

I know you feel bad for others. Thats cos you're a good person. But letting feeling-bad-for-others drag you down doesn't help them. It helps them when you show compassion and support, when you give practical help, when you role-model getting out of debt - and you do all those things, regularly.

So.... changing tack slightly.... do you think you qualify for sainthood yet? Or not? You're one of the good guys, and don't you dare forget it!

    Hi slug! :hello:

I see, first post and I get told I'm stupid! What a way to introduce yourself! ;)

Yeah you say there is no hardship but you've lost a relative.

And I'm hoping by the kiss at the end that you are female. :)
