SS's 2008 Debt Free Diary

SS dude,
I totally see where you're coming from me and OH moved back in with his parents so that I could prepare a bit more for redundancy, pay off as much debt as possible so that when the HUGE paycut comes I'm not in the brown smelly stuff. Today I am on the web looking for flats and making viewing appointments cos there's only so much of my Mother in Law to be I can take.
I know it's risky financially, I know I won't be able to over pay on debts but for the sake of my sanity, my happiness and my need for just a tiny bit of privacy without having to justify why I won't be around for dinner, why I am popping out to the shops/pub/gym and without having to give a time that I will be home (I'm 31 tomorrow !!!!!!) I just need to do it.
So, whatever you decide, if it's for the sake of your happiness, we're all behind you! You'll still get debt free it'll just take a bit longer that's all.
Mola x
Hey Mole.
I'm glad someone else can see it from my point of view. I know it's a bit of a cliche but life is for living and to be honest I'm not enjoying life as it is. Like you say for my own sanity and happiness I have to do this. The debt free date doesn't matter anymore. My happiness does.
It's a no brainer isn't it?0 -
Is a two bedroom really necessary? Why not have a 1 bed for now and move again later? Then you can start small on the furniture front etc - just a couple of chairs for the longue instead of a three piece suit etc. Might be a good stop gap for a year or so?No longer using this account for new posts from 20130

Well to be honest there aren't many 1 beds in OK'ish areas where I'm looking. They tend to be in the rougher areas!
I'll have to do a bit more research!
As for kitting it out, I'm only gonna get the basics anyway. TV and bed. Maybe a wardrobe.0 -
Why not compromise
. Go for a 1 bed furnished for 6-12 months - this would get you freedom - then you could save up for the furniture for a 2 bed.
I think we would allow you to do that
Anyway, stop faffing about on here & get on the with matched betting, that will solve some of the issues!
I volunteer to come flat viewing with you, I love being noseyA positive attitude may not solve all your problems, but it will annoy enough people to make it worth the effortMortgage Balance = £0

I've just looked. And admittedly they are about £200 p/m cheaper. But not nice areas!
Will definately consider it though!0 -
