Good morning all
Thank you for the start @Gers
I went to the bereavement café yesterday, emotionally drained. Not looking forward to the coming week.
Have been shopping this morning, caught the bus just before 8, only a couple of stops, got the bits I wanted and home by 8.30. Shouldn't have to go again until the new year.
Take careIf you walk at night no-one will see you cry.15 -
Morning All
Thanks for the start Gers, hope your broadband stays in with the poor weather forecast. Love the green pants!
The weather is fairly calm here for now but due to get bad later. I've been to 2 SMs this morning, just need some fresh salad stuff that I'll get on Monday. The shops were ok but can imagine it will be carnage later. I had a list and stuck to it!
DS2 decided he wants to make a beef wellington for Christmas day and sent me a shopping list. The beef alone cost £85 so it had better be good!
Just about to go out again to deliver some lemon curd that I promised to friends so had better get that done before the wind and rain arrive.
Glad to hear your SIL is a bit better Coxy.
Sounds like a fab day Carolbee - I did enjoy the Book of Mormon.
Just rest TA, all those jobs will still be there after the festivities.
Fingers crossed for your DH Scarlet.
taff - I'm still at the same school, the mad Primary 7s left in the summer and the new HT's policies seem to be kicking in. Still some awful episodes but nothing like it used to be thank goodness.
Anyway, must get on, hope everyone is well and you have a good weekend. Take care. XX11 -
Morning all
Had a terrible nights sleep I woke at 4 with the most painful indigestion and I haven’t really slept since the pain has gone now but I don’t think I will be fit for much today.
I got the larder cupboards cleaned out yesterday and six of the drawers I’m hoping to get the others done later but it may be tomorrow I will see how I feel later.
Off to get my nails put right today my lovely lady has squeezed me in bless her I have bought her some chocolates as a thank you.
The log man is coming later this afternoon so we will have a good stock over Christmas.
TA hope you feel better soon xx
Have good days all and take care xx11 -
Morning all, & thanks Gers,wet & windy here too.I didn't post yesterday ( well I don't think I did
, my memory is shot atm ) I got a taxi yesterday morning at 8.30 up to DGS school to watch the festive songs concert as no-one else could go, & it was lovely. Each class performed a different song, his class were last. At the end when the classes were filing out, I saw him having a word with his teacher, who glanced at me and nodded, and DGS came over & gave me a big hug. He's such a lovely lad, even though I say it myself
I sent a little video to his DM and DS2, she was gutted she missed it as it'll be his last at primary school but has just started a new job. Then caught 2 buses back home which wasn't as long as it sounds as there was 1 due outside school. If it had arrived a minute earlier it would have been even quicker as I saw mine drawing away from the stop!
@dp1 - good news, must be a relief after a long wait. Not sure what's on the agenda today, no football for us. I'll give my DB1 a ring later, they were helping DN to move into her new house yesterday.Take care all, and thanks for the carols taff.:heartsmil 'A woman is like a teabag: You never know her strength until you drop her in hot water'. Morning all. I didn't get on here yesterday as I slept in - an unheard of full 8 hours sleep with just one loo break
- so decided to get on with things before browsing and then I forgot I hadn't posted until late in the evening.
Like others, we have strong and noisy winds today but it's quite sunny, and tomorrow more gusty winds that may even be accompanied by sleet showers.I'm not going anywhere until Monday when DS and I will be braving Sainsbugs. Not looking forward to that!
@Gers - I hope the new blade heater is as good as the recommendations. Shame about the NHS text, that must have been a let down. The pale green knickers could be a new trend!
@Scarlet - It's good you and DH are getting a short break from hospital appointments, they're very tiring when they come so close together.
@TA - So sorry to hear you're still feeling weary. I'm sure your DS or DD would be more than happy to get your shopping for you if you're not up to it but I can understand why you want to get out for a wee while.
@Coxy - Well, that's as good an excuse as any to eat the chocolate!
@dp1 - Good news about the LCWRA. I haven't heard anything about my PC application yet and am not expecting to until well into the New Year, given the backlog they're dealing with.
Hugs to @SO - I think quite a few of us aren't looking forward to next week for various reasons. I shall miss DH but will raise a glass to him and remember past festivities with fondness.
On the food front, I've cleaned the fridge and tidied up the freezer contents ready to receive Tuesday's shopping. Yesterday I used some beef mince and assorted veg to make savoury mince for tomorrow's dinner and tonight we're sharing a baked camembert with lardons and crusty bread. Although not too strong, it's beginning to pong a bit!
Enjoy your weekend whatever you have planned and stay safe in those winds if you're venturing out. XBe kind to others and to yourself too.11 -
Morning all, I don't know whether I'm coming or going this morning. I've been trying to write this post for over an hour. We've already had a call from dad who has broken his glasses so Mr Fix It has gone up to try to salvage them just for over xmas. I've tried to book him in for an eye test and new glasses but the first appointment isn't until early January, so that'll have to do. Meanwhile I was waiting for 2 deliveries to arrive including Mr Fix It's present. One duly arrived but the driver when asked didn't have the other one, then 2 mins later he was back with the other parcel and shouting Merry Christmas, good job I asked.
Then when taking something out of the fridge this morning I knocked a large tub of coleslaw onto the floor, it didn't break thank goodness but on standing up I knocked myself silly because the door hadn't shut ! Seeing stars is an understatement 😵!
I have a towel wash on the go and I have to empty the dw, then I'll finish the wrapping, fingers crossed.
Have a good day everyone, hugs to anyone in need.
nan xx

When they are both full grown,
Of all trees that are in the wood,
The holly bears the crown:
O, the rising of the sun,
And the running of the deer
The playing of the merry organ,
Sweet singing in the choir† + ☆ * ☆ ☆ * ☆ + †
Morning all! It's raining [boo!] but I have to have a shower anyway so I'll get wet [ yayy!??] No plans for today, there may be some sausage roll making. The electric fan oven is a lot stronger or faster or whatever the words are than the gas oven, they practically took no time at all yesterday [ I was experimenting with Glamorgan sausage rolls - result, three stars, would recommend, although I added some stuff so the recipe is a bit of this and a bit of that ]. And there's some hoovering and stuff to do obviously.
WL, that's a long time to be together as a group, well done!! Ruby, hope your indegestion is gone but obviously, get checked if it isn't! camelot, beef wellington sounds lovely but it's a lot of work...good to hear the ht's policies are making things better. SO, everything takes time...carol, enjoy your day! Gers, shame about the yayy! boo! message...TA, make a list, don't go struggling and being a martyr...remmie, must be getting worse the closer it gets...it wasn't too bad Thursday when I went for bread. Coxy, I'm really sorry about the chocolate, such a disaster at this time of year...[btw, did you oil your fingers or just drop it on purpose?
] Yorklass, that's a good way to be I think. If your life is complete doom and gloom what's the point? Might as well enjoy the good memories. Right, I'm off, watch out for horrible weather, don't take chances!

Just a quick hello from wet and very windy Mehefinland.
I'm right next to the Brisstle Channel and the wind just whistles up there- nothing to stop it until it hits my little patch. The quick fixit repair I did to the greenhouse after the last lot is looking decidedly dodgy - expect it will need some more duct tape !! Everything is so wet it won't stick though. Did manage to blag some new panes from someone who lost their greenhouse in the last lot and decided they were better off without it.
Very disturbed sleep for the last 3 nights- just what I need at the moment.
Scoobymare is acting odd - I thought she was colicky this morning, but she ate everything in sight and has gone out for a blow in the field. She does sweat up quite a lot when its milder, or when she's in season, but this was different. Have to keep a close eye on her. The last thing I need is a vet call out and all the angst that comes with it; but the animal always comes first and if it warrants it, that is what I shall do.
Made the Baileys coffee fruitcake yesterday as part oft he Xmas present for my friends. The house smelt lovely. Took it there this morning so I have less to carry next week. Had text to say has been sampled and much enjoyed. Result! I knew they wouldn't be able to resist lol.
Friend up the road flies out to Tenegrief later today to join a cruise ship. Alright for some. Glad they are not crossing the Bay of Biscay in a ship in this weather. They would definitely be green.
Hugs and spoons as always. Stay warm and safe

Mehefin Update!
Well Bodgit and Scarper + duct tape were no match for this wind! When it dies down, if it dies down; round 2 will commence with a full pane of glass. Wish me luck!
Mehefin
PS if anyone wants the recipe for said cake I can send as required.11
