My aunt died without a will. Remaining are her 2 sisters and a brother. The brother has dived into obtaining probabe but let’s say, he’s a bit of a chancer. So how can we check that having obtained probate, he is distributing the estate 3 ways fairly and not say, keeping some savings accounts to himself

He could only do that if he also failed to declare all the assets on the probate application which is now a public document.Did she own property? Fairly easy to check sale price if she did.1

When the Estate is distributed ask for a copy of the accounts. These should detail the assets realised, creditors paid and expenses incurred in winding up the estate.1

(I'm assuming that his mother is still alive and is one of the sisters mentioned in the OP)1 -
