Changing current account switch date not possible?

Hi, I recently got a new account and want to switch my other account to it to get the reward. During the application process I picked a date for the switch to start (mid-January as I was expecting some payments to arrive and didn't want to risk the switch offer being withdrawn while I waited). I now want to switch to happen sooner (because the payment got processed sooner than expected), but when I contacted the bank I want to switch to (Santander) via their chat, the agent told me that changing the date will disqualify me from getting the switch reward. I looked through the T&C and didn't find anything about the inability to bring the date forward/losing the reward as result. Is there really no way to move the switch date forward by a couple of weeks? I understand the date can't be changed if the process already started but in this case it's over 3 weeks away so don't understand the issue... Thanks!

I would be frustrated too if told this, as it does seem an unlikely condition.
But does it matter? Why not just stick with the original switch date?0 -
I wonder if that is because the reward is based on an automated switch process and if they have to manually intervene to push it through it isn't technically using the automated process.1
