How widely advertised was it?
At the end of the day, they hold the cards here because they have what you want. I'd try a charm offensive, getting furious with them certainly isn't going to help the situation.1 -
Indeed but that’s not a usual thing for JL customers to do (would JL even permit such?)sheramber said:
Only because they arranged postage so have a contract with Royal Mail, not the customer.
Maybe I don't know, would be great if their terms clarified that clearly really (which they may do if I'm missing it).Undervalued said:
Surely with click and collect the point of dispatch is when it leaves the collection point (normally with the customer collecting in person)? Until then JL are responsible for its safe keeping so they clearly haven't dispatched it at the time of the "click".
But it isn't? OP says £389 from £599.Ayr_Rage said:If an obvious error is made they can cancel the contract.
JL terms sayFor items being delivered to you (as opposed to Click & collect), when your product is shipped from our warehouse we will send you a despatch confirmation email.Order acceptance and the completion of the contract between you and us will take place on the despatch to you of the Products ordered unless we have notified you that we do not accept your order, or you have cancelled it in accordance with the instructions in Change or cancel an order.
Can't seem to see that it says anything further regarding click and collect that relates to acceptance? (which is the key point here).
Worth noting when you have it delivered to your home they are responsible for keeping it safe until it is handed to you, C&C or home delivery is the same in that respect
If the customer arranged his own postage/ delivery then JL would not be responsible after it was picked up for delivery. In the game of chess you can never let your adversary see your pieces0 -

https://www.techradar.com/health-fitness/smartwatches/amazon-messed-up-if-you-want-a-galaxy-watch-ultra-deal-get-one-for-gbp289-at-john-lewis-insteadEarlier this week we brought you the news of an astonishing Galaxy Watch Ultra deal in the UK. Turns out, it was too good to be true. An Amazon pricing error that saw the best Android smartwatch out there discounted to just £349 has been discontinued.

I can't quite believe there's a discount of more than 50% on this model so soon after launch.
Even the £210 saving would be enough to make this the smartwatch deal of the year. The £100 cashback on top of that makes it even sweeter.

That was referencing a previous Amazon pricing error. The article then points to a John Lewis offer instead.Thankfully, you can now grab a Galaxy Watch Ultra at a massive discount at John Lewis instead, down to just £389, a massive £210 off.
What's more, this deal qualifies for Samsung's cashback offering, so you'll get £100 back on your purchase, bringing the net cost to just £289.
Amazon's loss is your gain, with this new existing deal even better than the one that the online retailer canceled on Monday.

Yes I know, I didn't reproduce it in its entirety but was just highlighting the tone of amazement that accompanied both the Amazon pricing error and also the even cheaper JL price (which is what was being referred to in the part of my quote that you excluded).QrizB said:eskbanker said:

Wonder if the pricing error originated from Samsung themselves.QrizB said:

Yes, that techradar article is the one that I saw. I can't believe that an organisation as big as JL wouldn't just allow the order to completion when they have messed up as much as this.

Was a pricing error. Lots of people had their orders cancelled. Not surprised when it works out at £289 with the cashback.

They're not a charity, and they may be big (and are they really big when compared to the online behemoth that is Amazon?), but they're not in great shape. Giving away margin isn't a great strategy.wandee said:Yes, that techradar article is the one that I saw.
