Is a breakdown of VED raised by band available?
Options
As we all know, EVs are going to have to pay the flat rate of VED (£195 I hear) from April 1st 2025, but this has been backdated to include all EVs from 2017. This is to ensure that they make the same contribution to general taxation as ICE cars, and the flat rate was introduced for ICE in 2017.
However the £195 flat rate has not been backdated to all Post 2001 vehicles.
My theory is that HMG would lose more from reducing emission bands E-M to £195 than they would gain from increasing bands A-D and 2001-2017 EVs up to £195.
As a low mileage driver, the only thing putting me off a nice LandCruiser is the £735 VED!
(1985 to 2001 vehicles already pay way over the flat rate, so it is an obvious revenue loser to bring them down to the flat rate).
I tried the OBR, but the only data I can find is the total VED revenue, historic & predicted, nothing broken into tax bands.

You'd probably need to submit an FoI request.
But bearing in mind the newest of those CO2-banded cars is soon 8 years old, this is going to be a diminishing issue. Don't forget that 2001-06 didn't have the top two VED bands.1 -
