can freeholder demand building insurance certificate to be in joint names with RTM

We have an RTM in place for the property comprising 4 flats in a converted building. Upon renewal of the buildings insurance the Freeholder has demanded that the Insurance Certificate be in joint names of the RTM and the Freeholder. Is there any legal basis for this ?

    Are you wanting it in the name or the RTM only?

    If the freeholder is obliged to provide the insurance then it needs to be in their name. If the RTM is to operate the insurance then they need to be named on it.

    As you probably know, the legislation says that the RTM company take over responsibility for insurance. (Unless the RTM company and freeholder agree something different.)

    I can't see anything in the legislation that says the Freeholder can insist on being a joint policy holder with the RTM company. (But the RTM company and freeholder are free to agree that if they want.)
