does anyone go to court and win against these cowboys?

Without giving specifics that could identify myself I will keep this as vague as possible.
I received a ticket for overstaying in a free car park by Parking Eye, I had overstayed because the only access to the car park was via a shopping mall that had been evacuated due to a fire alarm. Rather than wait until access was reopened (there was nothing to indicate how long that was going to be and I didn't want to be late for work) I continued to work and returned later that day to retrieve my vehicle.
I appealed and lost (their grounds were that their signage is clear....eh that doesn't address the situation at all?) and Popla also backed them up which i found to be shocking.
I haven't paid as i was trying to get the land owner to cancel it but that appears to have failed and I'm now being threatened by dcbl for court.
so the question I have is if I go to court whats the likelihood of it getting thrown out due to the mitigating circumstances not being judged a valid reason by PE and their Popla minions? I can get proof from the shopping centre of their alarm logs etc to prove my story.
I'm happy to spend a day in court as these scumbags have gotten my back right up but my wife is twitchy that I'm going to end up having to pay their court costs and end up owing even more than i currently do?
appreciate your advice, thanks

Have you read the newbies thread?

Plenty of successes in court on here, dozens of them, just search a well known phrase title of a song by Queen
Thats assuming that it actually gets to a judge in court at a hearing
Umkomaas has a discontinuations thread going with around 450 for just one legal company
Each case is different, depends on numerous factors
A typical loss in court for a single PCN is about £212

Sometimes you don't search for exactly the right phrases.
Sometimes people get into a bit of a tiz and don't think logically and are reaching out for help.
Sometimes they are abroad, dealing with death, hospitals or have a poor internet connection and need some help.

Two different kinds of ParkingEye court cases. If they are fielding the case themselves (using their in house solicitors), they will feel they have a good case for them to pursue. If they've off-loaded the case to DCB Legal (probably after giving DCB Limited a chance to harass), then they will be far less confident/4rsed in doing it themselves. In which case, read the following thread:

I personally don't get involved in critiquing court case Defences/Witness Statements, so unable to help on that front. Please don't ask. .
I provide only my personal opinion, it is not a legal opinion, it is simply a personal one. I am not a lawyer.

Thank you all for the responses, I will go back and read everything that I probably should have done before hand, my apologies.1 -

That well known record title by Queen as a search phrase should yield the winning court cases on here

Frustration of Contract.
Fire alarms, heart attacks, loss of a leg.
Long and short is that the contact is nullified. It's not mitigation. That's probably why you lost at Popla-Koala.2
