Barclays to Santander balance transfer - computer says no?

Hi wise people, does anyone know what’s going on with this one? 

When I try to balance transfer 3k from my new Santander card to Barclaycard on a 0% offer, the payment is taken from my Santander card for 48 hours, never appears on my Barclaycard, then the payment gets reversed back to my Santander card, with the message “Rev Merch”. Called Santander; they said it’s Barclays issue. Called Barclays: they said it’s Santander. Tried it with NatWest card, went through fine, within 1 hour. Is there something obvious I’m missing here? All input much appreciated, thank you

Wrong details being entered for transfer?

Barclays request the payment. So any issues should be theirs to resolve (subject to the above)

I had something recently with Barclaycard where I couldn't make a balance transfer from my Zopa card, at least not using the app/online servicing. I rang them up and they tried manually over the phone, where it became clear they needed more details (reference number and Zopa account details) to put the transaction through. I provided this information and everything went through fine. I wonder if it may be something similar for you?

You are that it is not adding a extra space at beginning or end? 🤷‍♀️

@born_again @BrotherUuurgh Thank you both for replying - really appreciate it. I agree those spaces when you copy and paste can trip you up, happened to me before. Also agree that with some balance transfers more details are required. It turns out my balance transfer triggered a security check, so once I got that addressed it went through ok on the third attempt! Mystery solved 😅

FWIW I had this issue with Santander bouncing payments after a day or two with different reasons, I got it done on the phone
